Lenala hesitated before the door to her own weyr, feeling more nervous than hungover. She glanced over her shoulder at K'mai, her face pale.
"Vilarth says M'galec is upset that she wouldn't tell him where I was."

"I suppose that's understandable," K'mai admitted. He felt his nervousness growing. He didn't like confrontations, and after hearing about M'galec's temper, this had a very good chance of becoming one.

Her hand snuck out to curl around his briefly, taking courage from his presence. The fact that she needed courage to enter her weyr should have made her angry. Instead it just made her feel even more foolish. "I suppose I should go in, then."

He squeezed her hand. "I'm right here."

Nodding, she let go of his hand and reached out to open the door to the weyr, bracing herself as she stepped inside. "M'galec?"

Her weyrmate was sitting on a chair facing the door, just waiting for her to return. "Lenala..." And just who was that behind her? It was bad enough she stayed away all night in someone else's weyr without so much a word, in fact a resounding silence, as to her whereabouts. But she had the audacity to bring him back to _their_ weyr?! "Who is that, Lenala?"

Lenala took a few steps into the weyr before stopping. "It's K'mai. I had a little too much to drink last night, and he let me sleep it off."
She was rationalizing already, but she couldn't help it. The look on his face made her frantic to explain herself.

"Well, K'mai," M'galec said giving the bluerider a nod in acknowledgment, "thank you for bringing my weyrmate home to me. Now, if you would excuse us, I think she and I need to speak alone now."

The bluerider gathered his courage. "Lenala, do you want me to stay?"

Her eyes darted back and forth between K'mai and M'galec. **What do I do?**

Vilarth rumbled encouragingly from the ledge. }:Tell Dwarkanath's rider to leave.:{ Lenala cleared her throat and met M'galec's gaze squarely. "He doesn't need to leave. You do."

M'galec's jaw tightened. "You have fallen in love with this rider and you have decided that he should have my side of the bed? Is that it, Lenala?"

"No. It has nothing to do with him." Lenala wiped her sweaty hands on her sides, trying to hide the fact that they were very near to shaking.
"I don't think we're very good for each other, M'galec. And... I think you need to go."

"Just like that?" the bronzerider asked quietly, his hurt and angry eyes locked on hers. "Not a hint? Not a word? Not even an attempt at fixing the problem? Not even a clue as to what the problem might be?
Have I not lavished you with attention? Have I not sacrificed enough time catering to your needs? Have I ever denied you _anything_? What have I done to deserve such a casual dismissal from my home?"

Lenala's resolve wavered for a moment. "I need some time to think. Can't you--can't we just have some space to think, M'galec? Can we talk after we have a few days of space? Please?"

K'mai stood chewing his lip, wondering if he would need to step in. He really didn't want to. Why couldn't M'galec just _leave_?

"Can you not even allow me to defend myself before relegating me to a cot to sleep on?" His gaze wandered over to the bluerider standing behind her. "Or does your 'thinking' involve trying on different men to find the one that fits that space?"

"I'm not taking your place," K'mai said, thankful his voice was steady.
"I'm here as moral support, because you _scare_ her."

"I _scare_ you?" M'galec asked quietly, turning his now hard gaze back on the goldrider. How was it that this rider knew even more about their relationship then he did! Just how many other riders had she been complaining about him to behind his back. "Have I ever been violent to you? Have I ever struck you or took you by force? Have I ever even raised a hand in the _threat_ of violence?"

"N-no." Lenala shook her head vigorously, even as the memory of being held to the ground as he mocked her book drifted back to her. Had it really been violent? He hadn't struck her, or even threatened too. He was large enough to trap her, but maybe he hadn't realized...

Vilarth's angry bugle rose from the ledge. }:He must leave. _NOW_.:{ Her angry demand was not just directed at her rider, but at Dwarkanath as well.

Lenala winced. **He's going, Vilarth! He's going, it's all right!**

}:Dwarkanath's rider should leave!:{ she bellowed again, this time not discriminating about who heard. With absolutely no concern for her rider's protests, she directed her thoughts directly at the most important bronze in the Weyr. }:Nikornath! Your rider must protect mine!:{ M'galec sighed as his bronzed passed on the queen's obvious distress.
"Please, Lenala, I am trying to have a conversation with you. Could you please get control of your lifemate?"

**Vilarth, _please_!** She started across the weyr, not even realizing that she was jumping to follow M'galec's commands even now. **We're just trying to talk!**

K'mai was left in the doorway, facing M'galec. Although still nervous, he was also angry. "She asked you to leave. Why are you putting her through this?"

Annoyed that the rider had chosen to butt into their business he turned an icy stare towards their unwelcome guest. "She is my weyrmate. That may mean nothing to you, and perhaps it means nothing to her. But it means something to me."

Despite the frightening bronzerider staring him down, K'mai stayed where he was. "I didn't sleep with her last night, M'galec! She needed a friend."

"_I_ am supposed to be her friend." And if she could just get her dragon calmed down enough to talk to him they could fix this. M'galec truly wished Lenala hadn't pampered that gold so!

The gold's mental shout roused Nikornath from his slumber.

}:Vilarth? What is wrong?:{ he asked.

}:My rider is afraid! Dwarkanath's rider will not leave!:{ Vilarth's tone fairly trumpeted her desire to have the situation rectified _immediately_. The queen ignored her rider's attempt to sooth her and bellowed her annoyance again. }:HE MUST LEAVE!:{ }:Tell your rider mine will be there soon. Tell them I say to stay where they are,:{ ordered the bronze as he mentally prodded his rider into action.

Leaving his baby daughter with his weyrmate, K'sedel made haste to get to Lenala's weyr.
