"Royah, if I can have a word with you."

"Certainly."

Stopping to rest on a conveniently placed stone, the Tavern Master caught his breath after chasing the younger man up the path. "Excuse me, I am not as young as I once was."

"That sounds like something my father would say," replied the Lord Holder's son. "How can I help you?"

Bherevan laughed softly, "and someday your kids will say the same about you. But, on to business. Or pleasure. We are coming quickly to the opening of the Tavern, as you know."

"I had heard something like that," replied Royah with a grin.

"Yeah, faint rumors, no doubt," he replied with a smile. "Well they are true. I trust we shall see you there once in a while?"

"I hope so, but not so much after the baby comes."

"If your kids are anything like mine were, it is your wife that will be there after."

"Maybe indeed," Royah smiled at the joke, at least he hoped it was a joke.

"Well, of course both of you are welcome, but I'd like to invite you to the pre-opening party."

"A chance to sample the delights of your new tavern?"

"Samples are for the weak," Bherevan said, smiling. "If you want to enjoy life, you take big bites."

"I always found that I needed to sample something first, then I'd know whether it was worth the big bite."

"Well, there will be samples a-plenty there for you to try."

"When you put it that way."

"I thought so," Bherevan said with a chuckle.

"When exactly will it be?"

"The evening of the 21st, the night before we open for real."

"I'll be there."

"Good enough," the Tavern Master said. "Now I need to track down your father to invite him as well."

"I'm sure you'll find him in the main hold itself."

"Thank you, I look forward to seeing you and your wife there."

"We'll look forward to it."
