Maiz paced back and forth on the limited floor space of her weyr. At one point her hand unconciously strayed to her stomach. When she realized the gesture, she jerked her hand back, folding both arms around her chest. A silly little move like that one might make T'nac suspicious and that was the last thing she wanted. Then again, she decided that pacing was a bit odd too, so she forced herself to sit while she waited for the bronzerider to arrive. "Hey beautiful," T'nac smiled as he slipped his head in her door. "I got your message."

Her stomach turned when she saw him, but she fought hard to appear normal. Shards, could she really do this to him? "I'm glad you came," she said as a greeting.

"Well of course I came," he shrugged as he walked towards her. "It sounded like something important was on your mind."

"You told me if I needed some alone time that it would be okay with you and all I had to do was ask." Maiz was hedging, trying to say what she wanted to say without being too blunt about it. "Yes, I did," he nodded, suddenly confused. If she wanted to be alone, why would she call him to her?

"I need some space," the greenrider said quickly.
"Everything between us has gone so fast and my last relationship wasn't exactly anything close to perfect and I don't want to rush into anything..."

"How much space do you need?" It wasn't as if they spent every waking candlemark together, afterall. "I just don't think we should see each other for a while," Maiz said firmly. She knew she had to be firm on this subject or it would never work.

T'nac was shocked. That didn't sound like space. That sounded _final_. "Did I do something, Maiz? Did I upset you in some way?"

"No, no," she assured him quickly. She didn't want to upset him after all. "You didn't do anything."

This sounded like an easy let down. "Then why don't you want to see me?"

"Its about me, not you. I just can't deal with a relationship right now."

The bronzerider folded his arms in front of his chest and look down at the toe of his boot. "Yeah, ok." Sure, it was all about _her_. Where had he heard that kind of wherry dung before? Shards he wasn't some flaming idiot. "Well fine then, I'll leave you alone."

"Please don't hate me for this," Maiz blurted out.

"I don't hate you," he said, shugging a shoulder. "I'm not happy with this, but I can't make you want to be with me."

"I'm sorry," she said. It was the truth, she truely was sorry. But what other choice did she have? Confess the whole thing about why she had entered into a relationship with him in the first place? Then he really would hate her. "Yeah. Well... You know where to find me." The bronzerider couldn't stand the idea of just standing there like a wounded puppy. It was time to go and save at least a little face. Turning on his heel he beat a hasty retreat before he did anything really embarrassing, like beg her to take it back.

Once he was gone Maiz allowed her hand to come to rest on her lower stomach. "Don't worry little one," she whispered. "We'll do just fine on our own."
