"I hear congratulations are in order," stated the healer as he saw the beastcrafter.
"Really? Thank's," Aivorn replied rather sourly. He was not happy about his daughter's impression.
"A dragonrider in the family is something to be proud of," stathed Miranek.
It was the way he had been brought up, and given what the riders did for them...
"I have enough dragonriders in my family already. I rather not see her lost /between/ or Thread scored," Aivorn said. ** Or surrounded by horny men during mating flight.**
"I'm sure that she will be careful."
"Careful has nothing to do with Thread. I have a half-brother who lost an arm for the Thread," Aivorn said.
"I see," Aivorn had obviously seen the effects of threadfall strike his family, no wonder he sounded so unhappy about the fact. "She's obviously going to keep that in mind."
"I hope so," Aivorn said with resigned sigh. Nothing he could do about it.
"I tried to raise her to be a levelheaded person."
"She seems to be that indeed, a credit to you."
"Thank's. I have to confess that my home feels terribly empty without her," Aivorn said.
"You'd probably feel the same if she had married and moved elsewhere."
"Most likely. But at least I would had more time to prepare for it, you know, all that wedding fuss."
"She will come back and visit, once she's able. She'll always be your little girl."
"Suppose so," the beastcrafter grunted. It didn't make it any easier just now.
"I think I might be the same if it was my Helan."
Aivorn just nodded.
"Did I tell you how well my boys were getting on with that puppy?" asked Miranek changing the subject.
"No, you didn't. How are you settling in with Goldie?" Aivorn asked.
"They are doing really well, managing the walking and cleaning up after her really well."
"That's good to hear. I hope she's been good puppie," Aivorn smiled.
"Not too many messes around our cot, thank Faranth."
"If you take her out often enough, she's be housetrained soon."
"I think we are nearly there now."
"Good to hear. Her bloodline is easy to train," Aivorn said.
"Always good to hear."
"Bred them that way. You can't have untrainable herders," Aivorn shrugged.
"I can see that they might be a problem."
Aivorn just nodded.
