Maiz slipped quietly out of bed, careful not to wake T'nac who was laying beside her. She watched him sleep for a minute, then went to go get dressed. It took the bronzerider a moment to realize that the sheets next to him were growing colder by the second. Squinting one eye open, he looked for any sign of the woman who had been beside him, but she was not there. "Maiz?"
**Caught!** she thought. "Right here," Maiz said, moving back towards the bed. "I have wing practice,"
that was a lie. "and you looked so content sleeping there that I didn't want to wake you."
"What time is it?" he asked, sitting up and rubbing at his eyes sleepily. If she had drills he probably had drills too. T'nac reached out to his bronze.
}:The sun is not yet up,:{ his lifemate replied. }:We can still sleep longer.:{ "Maiz?" he asked, confused by the contradition. "The sun isn't up yet. Why do you have drills now?"
"It'll be up soon, won't it?" Maiz asked, pretending confusion. She didn't want to tell him that she wanted to go back to her own bed, alone. "I don't know. I suppose," he groaned. "I just don't want to get up yet."
Maiz peeked outside. "Maybe you're right, I don't think its light for a while yet," she ammended.
Quickly, she got back into bed. She was thankful that T'nac seemed to be mostly asleep, because otherwise he would have seen through her poor acting skills. The bronzerider wrapped his arms around her. "I'm glad you don't have to go yet." The greenrider didn't say anything, simply lay there and tried to will herself to fall back asleep. T'nac, however, had different ideas. He softly began kissing just under her ear, his fingers sneaking under her shirt to draw little cirlces around her naval. After all, if she was awake and he was awake and they had a little time to spare... This was too much for Maiz. Yes, she liked T'nac. Yes, she liked having sex with him. But right now she just wanted the peace and quiet of her own bed. "Stop!" she told him, pushing at his hands. "I lied all right? I knew it wasn't morning yet. I don't even have early morning drills today! I just wanted a little time alone in my own bed!"
T'nac was shocked by her reaction. "What did I do? If you don't want me to touch you, just tell me. If you want to time alone, just tell me. What are you so mad about?"
"I'm not mad," Maiz stated. "I just want time alone.
And I didn't want to hurt your feelings."
"Yeah, well you didn't seem worried about my feelings when you were lying to me and pushing me away as if I'm some stranger," T'nac muttered as he pulled away and turned over to face away from her. All she had to do was say she wasn't in the mood. Now, she was mad. "What, was I supposed to sit there and have sex with you when I didn't want to in order to spare your feelings? I didn't think you were so much like every other man I've known! I have a choice T'nac! I don't have to if I don't want to!"
"What, do you think I'd force you?" he snapped back. "You can say 'Not now, T'nac, I want to sleep', or 'I just don't feel like it'. You didn't have to yell and push me as if I was _attacking_ you!"
Maiz burst into tears, turned away and started gathering her things. She had started all this, and she knew it, but she just didn't have it in her to finish it. A hasty retreat seemed like the best option. Oh great, and now she was crying. "All right, all right," he said, sitting up and turn to face her. "I'm sorry. Maybe I just took it a little stronger than you meant it." Maybe. "Please, don't cry, Maiz. Come back to bed."
She ignored him completely. She put on her clothes, gathered up her other things, and turned to the door. He swung his legs over the side and followed her. "Come on, Maiz, I said I'm sorry. Please, don't leave angry. I'm sorry, truly."
"Its over," Maiz told him. "I'm not doing this anymore. I'm not coming back."
"What?" She just wasn't making any _sense_! "We're having one fight! You're ready to call it quits after _one_ fight?"
"You seem to think that I should do whatever you want me to do! Well I won't! I have every right to make my own choices about things!" she shouted. Of course, it wasn't really him that she was mad at. All of those things didn't go back to him, they went back a lot further. "Can you even _hear_ yourself, Maiz? You're not making sense! I told you that you can tell me you don't want to have sex with me," he shot back out of frustration. "I just said you should have thought a little bit about how you did it! I never took any choices away from you!"
At least on some level Maiz knew that she was taking things out on T'nac that had nothing to do with him, and that wasn't fair. Still, she was too upset to have a rational conversation with him. She stared at him a minute, tears still streaking down her face. "I have to go," she told him quietly. "Please," the bronzerider pleaded softly. "We can talk about this."
Maiz shook her head. "I can't. Not right now."
"Tonight?"
She nodded. Anything, _anything_ if he'd just let her leave now. She couldn't handle this now.
