Description: Maiz gets upset and T'nac comforts her.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 13, day 7 of Turn 3

Maiz tried to tell herself that she hadn't expected to get pregnant the first month. She just wasn't that lucky. Still, the concrete evidence that she wasn't pregnant upset her. Alone in the bathing cavern, she tried, and failed, to fight back tears.

"Maiz?" T'nac called as he walked through her rooms looking for her. Her heard a faint sound coming from the bathing chamber. Standing outside the bathing chamber he talked through the curtain. "Maiz are you in there? You didn't come down to dinner... Is everything ok?"

**Shard it!** she cursed mentally. "I'm fine," Maiz replied, a little shakily. She splashed cold water on her face, hoping to take away some of the redness. "Well, can I come in?" Something just didn't feel right.

She sniffled, brushed a hand over her face. Hoping her eyes weren't totally bloodshot and that her cheeks weren't too brightly flushed, she stepped out of the bathing cavern. "Hi," she offered softly.

"What's wrong?" he asked, reaching out for her. Her misery was written on her face, and even in the forced smile she tried to give him.

Maiz allowed herself to be pulled into a huge, wanting the comfort. "Nothing," she said automatically. Then amended, "I just don't feel well."

"Do you want me to take you to the healers?" he asked, pulling back slightly to look her over.

"Its nothing worth making a fuss over," Maiz told him.
"I'm not sick really, its just my time of the month and I don't fell well." She was embarased at having said that, so her cheeks grew even more red. It wasn't a total lie, she didn't feel well, never really did during her monthly flow. But it wasn't the real reason why she was crying. "Oh well, I suppose you can't help that, can you," the bronzerider pulled her close once more, running through all the ways he knew women liked to deal with that time of the month. At least the ways he knew. "Do you want me to run down and get you something sweet? I know you haven't eaten anything yet, but it might make you feel better."

"I'm not hungry. I just want to curl up in bed. And drink water, because that always helps me feel better." "You go curl up, and I'll grab some for you."

She felt that all-too-familiar tug of guilt. "I can get it. You've got better things to do than wait on me."

"Really, its ok," he said softly, rubbing his hands soothingly along her back. "I don't mind waiting on you."

"Ok," Maiz consented. She had given him a chance to be free of her and he hadn't taken it, what more could she do? Quietly, she she walked away from him to search out her pajamas and get into bed. The bronzerider found the glasses and a pitcher and filled it with water. T'nac was a little concerned. He knew that some women had trouble when it was their time, but he hoped she didn't have to go through this every time. Perhaps her dragon was getting ready to rise?

"Thank you," Maiz said graciously when T'nac brought her the water. She had crawled into bed, and now sat with furs and pillow piled high around her. He slipped onto the bed beside her and wrapped an arm around her. "You're not hungry at all?" She shook her head, burrowed against his side, resting her head on his chest. "My stomach hurts," she said as explanation.

"Well, maybe later you'll feel better." He ran his fingers through her hair, not really minding her cuddling up to him. "Hopefully soon. You don't have to stay if you don't want to though. I'll be okay on my own."

"No, I want to stay with you," he assured her. "As long as you like."

Maiz fell silent. She re-arranged the furs so they covered her to her chin, then closed her eyes.
