Description: Amowyn Meets Kiomo and they talk a bit.
Location: Garnet Valley Hold
Date: month 13, day 17 of Turn 3

Amowyn stood outside the outer kitchen door. Her hair had begun to escape from the confines of her braid and she needed to control it again. She carefully unbraided the long black mass. As it hung to her knees in uncontrolled waves, she looked young, to young to have seen any troubles in her life. She bent over to get a good hold on the whole mass. With deft fingers she got it put into a tail and began to braid the soft wavy mass. She was unaware of anyone watching her fight with it. she finished getting it braided and twisted it into a neat bun at the nap of her neck, and nearly jumped when she glanced around to see a young man watching her. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be starring, but I was hoping to go into the kitchen and you were blocking the door," Kiomo smiled. "You seemed to be engaged in... quite the chore. I thought it best not to interrupt you."

"I'm sorry. I didn't think anyone would wish to come through this way."
She had seen him a couple times. "Please feel free to enter the kitchens."

"Sorry, I didn't mean to surprise you. After you," he said with a slight bow.

She nodded and walked in. She walked over to the hearth and got a mug of klah. She turned and offered it to him. "Klah?"

"Ah, yes please," Kiomo nodded as he looked quickly around the kitchen to see who happened to be there. A cook and a rather tired looking journeyman whose wife had given birth the night before were their only other company unfortunately. With a nod to the journeyman he took a seat at table.

Amowyn smiled as she handed off the mug and moved around the kitchen to fetch her bowl of tubers to be peeled and sat at the table to peel them. "She'll be back in a bit if you stay long enough to wait." She said. She had noticed this young man come and go often.

"Which she?" he asked as he watched her work.

"Most handsome young men are looking for a young woman. I saw your disappointment when you looked about. I guessed she wasn't here." She peeled the tubers deftly. "Where I come form that was more often the case. it offered them a chance to show off." She didn't want to admit her own husband had been one of those kind. Of course, e still looked good for a sixty some turn old man.

"Actually I was looking for the cook. I need to make arrangements for both Steward Penryn and I to have dinner delivered to us tonight." It was only a slight lie. "I'd hate to take the time out later to come back to place the order unless I really had to. We have a lot of research to do."

"Ahh, I'll see to it that she gets the message." She smiled softly as she put the tubers in a pot to boil. Next she took out some more vegetables and began to prepare them. "Is there any thing else I can do for you?"

"Do you have anything to nibble on?" he asked hopefully.

She nodded and fetched some of the leftover meatrolls. She placed them on a plate and brought them over to him. "It's not much, but it should tide you over till the evening meal."

"They're perfect, thank you," he smiled. "I'm new here, but I have a feeling you're even more so. When did you arrive?"

"Not too long ago. I met someone who said I could try here to make a new life for my daughter and I. So, here we are." She smiled. "We like it here so far." She slapped her forehead and groaned, "I bet I forgot to tell you my name. I'm Amowyn."

"Ah, that's all right," he assured her as he reached out his hand. "Kiomo."

"It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm still kinda settling in." She shrugged.

"Where did you come in from?" Kiomo asked curiously.

"The Emerald Falls area." She smoothed a wisp of hair back from her face.

"That's a very hot part of the continent. How do you find Garnet Valley weather?"

"I haven't found a compliant yet." She smiled as she set to work on another project. "Where do you hail from?"

"Ancient Stones Hold. Far from here," Kiomo with a wave in the general direction. "My father was Lord Holder."

"Then what brings you here?" She asked. What she didn't say was that her father had once thought to marry her off to someone in that hold. He and paraded her around so many holds that she had gotten dizzy. She had also hated it. "A chance at a new start? New possibilities? Build a Holding of my own somewhere? Thousands of reasons. You?"

"Getting a second chance at being happy." She smiled.

"Second starts are good for that," Kiomo nodded thoughtfully. "Any reason you weren't happy before?"

"I had a few reason's but I don't think of them much." She smiled. "I'm happier here."

He shrugged. It was none of his business anyway. "Fair enough."

"I'd better get back to work. If you need anything please feel free to ask." She got up quickly and set to work. Her hands shook a bit form how close she had come to telling him about her past.
