Characters: Gilsha, Maiz, T'nac
Description: Gilsha introduced Maiz to T'nac
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 12, day 20 of Turn 3

Maiz tried not to act too nervous while the tall, dark haired bronzerider ambled over. For good measure, she pretended indifference, sipping at her klah. "T'nac, are you meeting anyone? Do you want to sit with my friend and me?" Gilsha asked in an innocently sweet voice.

"No, I was just grabbing a little snack. That klah looks good," he said eyeing the pitcher. "Oh, well, hold on and I'll get you a mug. This is my friend Maiz. Maiz, T'nac. T'nac, Maiz. All right, I'll get you that mug now," she said, jumping up and giving the young greenrider a quick wink. "Just make yourself comfortable and I'll be right back."

"All right," he chuckled as he slipped into the seat across from her nervous companion. "Gilsha is a character, isn't she?"

"Yes, she is," Maiz agreed. "But a good character at least. I just moved here and she was one of the first people to befriend me."

"Well, she's pretty new herself," the bronzerider said with a small smile, his dark hazel eyes briefly meeting hers. "May I ask how you ended up here?"

"I impressed a green about 6 months ago. When Indyath and I graduated I decided it would be best to move to a different Weyr. I just needed a change," she explained. "How long have you been here?"

He thought about it a moment, mentally counting back to when he came to Dragonsfall. "About eight turns. Since I was Searched. I guess I never thought about finding a Weyr other than this one. It's close to home and..."

"Sorry, sorry... T'nac, here's your mug, and a fresh pot of klah," Gilsha said in a rushed voice. She lowered it conspiratorially. "I met someone by the klah table, and I think I'm going to slip away, if you know what I mean." The greenrider gave Maiz a quick wink. "T'nac, can you make sure Maiz finds her way back to her weyr? She still gets lost sometimes. Thank you so very much! All right. I'm off skinny dipping!"

T'nac chuckled as he watched the greenrider hurry off towards the door. "Well, she seems excited."

"She does, doesn't she?" Maiz agreed. She wasn't certain if she was grateful or not at Gilsha's disappearing act. "Eight turns," she picked up on the last bit of their conversation. "That's a long time.
Though, I'd never have really thought of leaving my home hold before I was Searched."

"Me neither. I thought I would be married and have a family and spend my days around Opal Cove Hold being a crafter. So where is that? Your home hold I mean?"
he asked as he poured them both a cup of klah.

"You've probably never heard of it," she paused to sip her klah. "I grew up in a tiny little cothold called Crescent Cliff."

"No," he smiled, "I guess not. Do you miss it?"

"Sometimes," Maiz admited. "I'm not certain I really miss the hold. I think I just sort of miss always having someone around. I had sisters and brothers... I was never alone. Now I have my own weyr... and it just seems sort of lonely sometimes. That's when I miss home."

"I know what you mean," he nodded. "I came from a big family too. It is kind of strange to be _alone_. Sometimes it still hits me how quiet stone walls can be."

"I always thought that having my own space would be so wonderful. I shared a room with my sisters and dreamed of having a place that I didn't have to share... and now that I have it, I wish they were around to share."

"True," he said thoughtfully and sipped at his klah. "Of course, I'm never alone since I have Sikasanth, but, there is something to be said for human company, you know?"

"Of course Indyath means I'm never alone," Maiz said hastily, not wanting him to think she was discounting her dragon. "But yeah, human company is nice."

They fell silent a moment. T'nac quietly sipped at his klah. Maiz had lovely green eyes, and seemed genuinly nice to talk to. And her loneliness and love of family and home struck a chord in the bronzerider. But he was sure she found him rather boring. Most girls seemed to. After all, he didn't seem to really fit the bronzerider mold most women expect. He wondered if Maiz thought so too.

Maiz stared into her cup, certain she must have said something wrong. Why else would he lapse into silence?
She was horrible at this whole seducing thing... which was sad, since she really thought T'nac seemed rather nice. "If I drink my more klah I'm going to be bouncing off walls all night," she offered, breaking the silence. "Do you need me to walk you back to your weyr then? Gilsha said you still get lost sometimes."

"If you don't mind. And only if you're finished. I don't want to interupt your meal."

"I don't mind," he smiled.

"I'd really appreciate it," Maiz said, smiling back.

"Let me just put the pitcher back," he nodded, standing to do just that.

When that task was finished Maiz led the way out the door. "I think I know my way back. At least I hope I do."

"Well, that's why I'm here - to make sure you find your way," T'nac said as he followed her.

Maiz laughed. "You know, I didn't think of it before-
but if I get us lost, you don't know where I live any more than I do! We'd be hopeless!"

"Not entirely," he smiled. "I assume you remember the number. But if not, Sikasanth can find your green easily enough. She'll know where your weyr is."

She all but skipped when she realized that they were nearly at her weyr. "Look, look, look! I got us here without getting lost!" Maiz was stupidly proud of her accomplishment. The bronzerider smiled at her enthusiasm, but found he was a little disappointed it was so easy. "Well, you're home then."

"Yeah, I am," Maiz replied, turning subdued once more.
"Would... would you like to come in?" she asked tentatively.

If he was susprised at the invitation, he covered it well. "Sure. I'd like that."
