No matter how she tried, Maiz simply could not stop thinking about children. Seeing U'kaiah's son had brought it on. The boy was so cute, so polite, so wonderful. How it made her miss her boys! Being without Haikar and Mykaz was like being without part of herself. Haikar was such a little trouble maker-
always into something. Mykaz was just such a sweet little thing- only a turn old, and he could wrap any woman around his finger with one of his shy smiles.
Despite being twins, they had two very distinct personalities.
Maiz acutely missed the days when her life had been filled with caring for them. Until they were 6 months old she had almost never let them out of her sight.
Then Indyath had come along. Maiz could never, ever, regret impressing, but at the same time, it had been so terribly painful because she had been forced to foster her boys. Oh, maybe there was a chance that she could have tried to care for them while a weyrling-
but it wouldn't have been fair to them. Giving them over to a foster mother at 6 months hadn't been fair either. It had been a difficult transition.
Of course, now Mykaz and Haikar were settled in and happy with their new foster mother. As much as Maiz wanted her boys with her, she knew that their foster mother wouldn't move. She had a weyrmate and other children- the woman couldn't uproot and move. And Maiz's former weyrmate H'kar would never let her move his sons to Dragonsfall. He may have been awful to Maiz, but he was a great father. So, despite desperately wanting Mykaz and Haikar to live with her, Maiz simply couldn't do it. She couldn't uproot them again, after already having made the difficult transition of living with her to being with a foster mother. And their father had a right to see them- and Faranth knew Maiz didn't want H'kar anywhere near Dragonsfall. Life was all around easier if the boys remained where they were and she went to visit them.
}:You are so sad and lonely though,:{ Indyath stated.
**I'm not really lonely, I have you," Maiz assured her green. **I just miss my babies. I always wanted children, and now I can't have mine with me.**
}:If you want children, you should have children," was Indyath's reply. It was such a simple statement. So logical. If you want children, why not simply have them?
It made Maiz stop and think. Who said she needed a weyrmate to have a child? She lived in a Weyr, didn't she? Women in Weyrs did whatever they wanted. Having a child without a weyrmate... why, it wasn't even out of the ordinary, let alone frowned upon. Maiz sighed. Unfortunately, making a child required more than just a woman who desperately wanted one. Then she though, **How many times have men made offers? How many times could I have been in a man's bed, had I been willing?**
If both parties were willing... what did it hurt? So what if Maiz would only be in it because she wanted a baby? Willing was willing... right?
**Indyath, I can't believe I am even thinking about this!**
}:Why not? Queen dragons mate so that new dragons can be hatched. Sometimes the golds don't even like the male who flies them- but its all okay because they get a clutch as a result.:{ Again, so logical. There were probably some flaws in there somewhere... but Maiz certainly did not care to look for them. She wanted a baby. Was that really so wrong? And sleeping with a man to get pregnant... who would that really hurt?
Happy with her plan, and not wanting to over-think it too much, Maiz left her Weyr, with every intention of putting her plan into action.
