Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 12, day 23 of Turn 3
The Weyrling knocked at the door of the tailor's workroom. Having had it pointed out to her that her rank would mean she'd be expected to represent Dragonsfall Weyr at times, and that she'd need to dress appropriately.
Frustrated, she'd looked through her small wardrobe. It contained riding gear, work clothes and not much else. Onnyth hadn't understood really, but when Teseada had stood there just looking at the wardrobe the gold had finally told her to just go and do something about it, which led to her being right where she was.
The door opened to reveal a smiling Kavlyn whose eyes positively light up when he recognized Teseada. "Teseada! Come in, my darling." Stepping back, he swept his arm to the side widely and ushered her inside. "Is this a friendly visit, or do I get to dress you up?"
"Both," she replied with a grin. "I need help, something other than these to wear to gathers." Having stood on the stands with Kavlyn she knew his manner, he was the same with everyone, and it made them feel good. She wondered how much of it was simply putting people at ease while he worked his wonders with needle and thread.
Kavlyn laughed and tugged her inside, closing the door. "Finally! I've got a few things here that would look stunning on you."
"You do?" Stunning - that was a hard concept to understand. She knew she wasn't one of the pretty girls, never had been, but Onnyth was pushing her forward, and had been good for her confidence.
He gave the clothes she was wearing a highly disapproving look. "And unless you're expecting someone else to climb inside that tunic with you, you're going to let me take it in!"
"It's a little big, isn't it." She'd got so used to just getting clothing in her usual size from the stores that she hadn't really noticed how much weight she had actually lost, simply through the exercise of caring for her dragon.
"Mmmm..." He pinched the fabric together at her side, one eyebrow going up as the fabric tightened against her body. "Yes, I think we need to get you some clothing to show off a little."
"Just what have I got to show off though, nobody ever looks at me." That was a hint of the old Teseada coming through, but she did look and see how much cloth he had pinched in his hand. "Faranth! That much!"
Grinning, Kavlyn stepped back and gestured for her to take the tunic off.
"When I'm done with you, they'll all be looking," he promised as he turned to where he kept the dresses. "Now these are some basic dresses in different sizes and styles... let's get an idea what sort of look you want and then I'll go from there."
"What colour do you reckon would suit me?" Her voice was slightly muffled as she pulled the tunic off, leaving her in her underthings. "I've never been very good at finding the right ones."
"Hmmm..." The eyes he ran over her body were professional, though the gleam in his eyes was pure mischief. "I suppose we can try a few! Unless you're in a hurry..."
"Not at all, I don't need to be anywhere else today." She glanced at a few of the dresses and tunics he'd indicated. "I like that one," she said pointing to a dark coloured tunic. It was rather long, and loose fitting.
"Hmmm..." He examined the color of the tunic for a moment before reaching out to snag one in a similar color, though quite a bit tighter. "Try this on."
She took it, and slipped it over her head, finding where her arms needed to go. Settling it in place, she reached up to smooth her hair down. "What do you think? It's not too tight is it?"
"Would I have given it to you if it was going to be too tight?" he replied, tugging the tunic into place and turning her so he could look at the back.
"Just trust me, Teseada." He tugged on the hem again to smooth it out and then spun them both around so that he was standing behind her and she was facing the mirror. "See?"
"Is that really me?" Looking into the glass she could suddenly see a dragonrider looking back at herself. It was the first time she'd really seen how things could be. "Kavlyn, thank you."
He grinned at her in the mirror before wrapping his arms around her waist in a friendly hug, propping his chin on her shoulder. "You haven't seen anything yet, beautiful. Wait until I get you into a dress." **And back out of it.**
