anyone up for awkward sex conversations or experiences? :D

The next evening, Katora sat soaking in the baths. She listened to all of the conversations floating around her but participated in none of them unless asked and since she wasn't asked, she was happy to just sit in the warm circulating water, thinking.

If Saiorth was going to rise every few months, she wanted to figure out how to make it worth her own time, or else she would just feel this rising frustration with it _not_ turning out good for her. She wasn't with the Traders anymore. She had a private weyr space, different responsibilities, and a lot more freedom, especially for her age. Even with the danger of fighting Thread, Katora was in a good spot in her life so why let something like this sour it?

Two naked male riders passed within her vision, on their way to one of the other pools. She took a quick glance between their legs, noting what differences she could see. Z'renh had been bigger. Did that matter? She didn't think so, even though the old saying said otherwise. Euphemisms were weird like that. Like the one that said the size of a guy's feet was indicative of the size of other parts. _That_ was untrue.

As one of the women greenriders undressed and slid into a nearby pool, Katora watched quietly, feeling no attraction there. Well, at least she had an answer on that. She had been worried for a bit that maybe she was chasing the wrong gender entirely because that's what she had been expected to do. But, no, the woman was lovely yet did not grab Katora's eye like the men did.

She rested her head against the lip of the pool and closed her eyes. Z'renh had talked about trying other things. Positions. Out of a sudden onset of awkwardness, she had rejected the idea but the more she thought about it, the more she wondered if _that_ would help. Now she was in a different pickle problem. Could she just go back to Z'renh and ask to try it or would she be too embarrassed? What if that didn't work either? Should she ask someone else?

She thought of her weyrling classmates and her Wingmates. C'uren was obviously a good person to ask, even if he was a braggart. Surely he had enough quantity, if not quality of experience to give her some insight. Or just add to her disappointment. She frowned slightly. On further thought, it would probably be the latter. Maybe she could ask A'ris. He might be a good lay. He was certainly muscular enough. Rh'din was okay but it seemed like he had even less experience than Katora. She enjoyed spending time with him but it felt like they were both fumbling there.

Everyone else in her weyrling group or Wing was either too old for her or not interested in women. And Katora hadn't had much time to get to know crafters and other Weyrfolk since her training had taken up so much time previously. She'd had to start fresh on that front. That didn't appeal to her much.

Just when she thought she would ruminate until the water ran cold, a thought struck her. She could ask some of the veteran women in her Wing! Surely Zariah would be okay with talking about something like this. She had no problem voicing her opinion about other matters in previous conversations.

}: I like her, :{ Saoirth agreed, listening in for a moment. }: I’m sorry this frustrates you so much, Katora love. I wish I knew how to help. :{

**I know. Don’t worry. I’ll figure it out.** That’s what Katora had always been good at as a Trader -- figuring things out. Sometimes it took a different methodology or a creative approach, but that’s what made Traders good at their craft. She just needed to apply the same mindset here. Would Printer Hall have books on sex? Maybe one that showed those other positions that Z'renh had mentioned? That might be an option. If nothing else, a steamy romance novel might work. **I have a feeling that if I ask the boys that I know, they’ll all give me some narrow-minded male answer. I know I can’t be the first woman to try to figure out why sex is weird for her.**

}: You could do what some of the other women do and be a…oh, what is the word they use? :{

Katora’s expression scrunched up. **A flight moth?** She’d be using a dragon-hazed rider to further her research and who’s to say that it would go well? It didn’t really sound appealing but she filed it away as a possible backup plan. It was definitely a better idea than asking C’uren to be truthful about anything.

}: You could talk to Adamanth’s rider. :{

Katora blew out a breath loudly. **Let’s talk to the women first. Find some books. Get some data. Then maybe the flight moth thing. _Then_ Z’renh if none of that works.** She hoped that talking to other women and finding some books would give her enough information so that she didn’t have to resort to the latter two options.

Pleased with her thought process, Katora slipped out of the water and toweled off. She'd figured this out! People made such a fuss about sex all of the time so it was just a matter of time and research until she understood why.
