Corowal stuck his head in to the office. "You're the Headwoman, right? I thought I should come to introduce myself. I'm Corowal, the new Steward. I just arrived today."
"Ah, yes. Corowal," the Headwoman smiled as she carefully stood, mindful of her pregnancy. "It's good to meet you. Please, come in. My name is Fayne."
"Well met, Fayne," Corowal smiled. His eyes fell to her midrift. "Seems like congratulations are in order too."
She smiled at him, pressing a hand briefly to her rounded stomach. "Thank you. Please, come in." Gesturing him inside, she went over to the stand where refreshments were kept. "Would you like anything to drink?"
"Klah, please," Corowal asked. He took a seat. "I just spent few intense candlemark's with his lordship and he never thought to offer me anything," he said. "Tell me, is he always so... so stiff and formal? He's going to have back problems if he doesn't relax," the new steward asked. His pose was quite relaxed.
Fayne hid a grin behind the klah pitcher as she tried to rack her brain for a way to reply neutrally. Stiff and formal...that was one way of describing Enriziel. Not that she wasn't grateful for all he'd done for her and her husband. But even still...she could completely understand where Corowal was coming from. She handed him a full mug. "As far as I know. A lot of things... Well, let's just say he hasn't been having the best of Turns." There. That was rather neutral. Maybe.
"Yes, I've heard some of it," Corowal said and accepted the mug with a thank-you smile. He had always kept an ear open for the news from Emerald Falls hold. His mother had never allowed him to forget where he really came from and who he was. "So, I believe you know where I be sleeping tonight?"
"I do indeed. I can have one of my girls show you once we're finished here."
"Good. My family is coming by ship, they should be here in a two or three sevendays," Corowal told. "I presume the stewards quarters are large enough for my family?"
"The Steward's quarters are quite spacious. I'm sure there'll be enough room," Fayne replied with a smile. "You have children?"
"Four and fifth on the way," Corowal answered, sounding proud. "Congratulations! You must be very proud--you and your wife."
"Yes, we are," Corowal beamed.
"You're a very lucky man, Corowal." She took a seat again. "Now is there anything else I can do for you today?"
"I can't think of anything right now. Furniture and stuff I'll leave to my wife to decide when she arrives."
Fayne grinned. "Ah yes. We women love to organize that kind of thing." She remembered telling Kiyan when they had moved here that _she'd_ handle it--no reason for him to get involved.
"Fortunate for us men. My taste of curtains wouldn't be as good as hers," Corowal said.
"I'm sure she'd appreciate it if you told her that," she chuckled.
"I'll make sure she knows how much I appreciate her when she arrives," Corowal said.
