Cithara

"Listen in, my lovelies, for we have many interesting events to discuss.

Let us start with the young Lord Corofel. This author learned that his
secret love affair was _not_ with Lady Arippa, but even better, with
her unmarried twin sister, Faldrimme. For shame, Young Lord, to ruin a
young lady's reputation. What's more, the Young Lord stomped his way
over to the Printer Hall and threw a tantrum. Tsk, tsk. Don't worry,
readers of Emerald Falls, you can still receive literature from the
Printer Hall via the bookdragon deliveries.

My little birdies in other areas have gathered some interesting
information from the Weyrs.

Let us start with Dragonsfall Weyr, where a certain Weyrleader has
often been seen in the company of a bluerider. Friends or more, dear
readers? The jury is still out, but we find the Weyrleader's company
most interesting.

From sources inside the Weyr, the current Weyrling Group there is less
than ideal. Not only is the Weyr's newest gold dragonet a hideous
sight to behold, the Weyrlingmasters apparently can't keep the young
dragonriders from fighting amongst themselves. The Weyr's inability to
control and teach their young dragons certainly doesn't help the
Weyr's searchriders when it comes time to bring in more holdbred
Candidates.

This author wonders, dear readers, if all these problems are the
effect of the new Weyrleader's influence. After all, these problems
weren't present when K'reyel was Weyrleader....

Let us move next to Barrier Lake. The death of Weyrwoman Kapera's gold
dragon has certainly left ripples across the Southern Continent. Was
it a crime of passion? Should other goldriders across the continent be
concerned for their safety?"

Cithara put her stylus down and flexed her cramping hand. With her
other, she picked up her glass of wine. So many juicy details to put
into this issue. Her new contacts at both Dragonsfall and Barrier Lake
were proving to be quite fruitful with their information. Soon she
would find a contact within Dolphin Cove as well, she had no doubt.

Her lips twitched with amusement when she imagined Corofel's reaction
to _this_ gossip sheet. If he even read it. He seemed quite ready to
boycott the Printer Hall at all costs after Turn's End.

Picking her stylus back up, she put on a few finishing notes before
setting the paper aside, satisfied that she had a sheet that her
readers would love. Pushing back from her desk, the Printer Hall
Headwoman tightened her robe about herself and shooed away the hall's
stray feline, who had lately taken up sleeping on the rug just inside
her door.

"Mrrroowww?"

"Oh, hush," she said as the feline jumped to his feet and brushed
against her legs. "Don't turn those big eyes on me. You literally have
food in your bowl. No. No. I am not going to stand here and watch you
eat. You don't need an audience."

Leaning down, she gave the furry bag of bones a good scratching behind
the ears. "Go on, back to sleep now."

She wondered if Aleriand would have to fend off more angry people when
the gossip sheet was published. A small part of her worried that the
Printer Hallmaster would decide that she was more trouble than she was
worth... but Aleriand didn't strike her as a man to be bullied. Not to
mention, her pamphlets sold like hotcakes, and she took a good chunk
of that to pay the Printer Hall for their publishing services.

**I'll just enjoy it while I can,** she thought as she shuttered her
basket of glows and climbed into bed.
