_Planning_ on getting drunk until you don't remember all the betrayers in your life, and actually _getting_ drunk until you don't were too vastly different things J'klin realized. After his _talk_ with Arilanna, he had gone back to his weyr to accomplish this task; only to realize he had but a half bottle of wine left. So he headed back to the dining cavern, and sat down in the corner with his mug. It didn't matter to him what he drank; wine, ale. All that mattered was his goal of wiping out any memory of Arilanna and U'kaiah; what he had seen them doing together, what she had told him shortly after. Only it wasn't working. Hours had passed, the dinner crowd had finally gone. A few of his friends or wingmates had tried to join him, but a few terse words had made them move on, leaving him to do what he had set out to do. The only thing that he did accomplish though was getting kicked out. After a few unkind remarks to one of the drudges, he was told in no uncertain terms that he had better go sleep it off and that he wasn't getting anymore to drink. A few more unkind remarks later, and J'klin staggered out the door... right into U'kaiah.

"Watch it brownrider," U'kaiah muttered, trying to sidestep him. J'klin was certainly the last person he wanted to see right now. "Do you mind, I need to get something to eat."

J'klin blocked his path, his eyes filled with hatred at the sight of the cause of all his misery. "Why don't _you_ watch it." he spat as he shoved him back into the corridor. His head was spinning, but he ignored it, focusing on the rage that fueled him. "What in Faranth's name..." U'kaiah didn't like being pushed around by anyone, least of all _J'klin_. "Just what are you playing at, brownrider?" he growled. "Let me through."

"I'm done _playing_ with you, you went too far this time U'kaiah!" He glared at the man, getting just inches from his face.

"Too far?" U'kaiah asked through clenched teeth. He could smell the alcohol on the brownrider's breath. "I think you are the one in danger of going to far. Just what is it you think I scorching did to go too far _this_ time?"

"I _saw_ you. I saw you with Arilanna!" he cried, grabbing U'kaiah's tunic. "Why couldn't you just leave her to me? Wasn't Felika enough for you? You had to steal Ari away from me too?"

The bronzerider grabbed J'klin's fingers trying to pry them off his shirt. "Get off me, J'klin. You're drunk and your imagining things. I'm not stealing _anyone_ from you."

"Liar!" J'klin yelled as he pushed U'kaiah back against the wall, not relinquishing his grip, "Did I _imagine_ your arms around her coming out of her room? Did I imagine you getting her pregnant!"

"Let it go, J'klin! That was _turns_ ago," U'kaiah growled as he continued to work on untangling the brownriders fingers from his tunic.
He tried to push himself off the wall, but the brownrider had him pinned.

Something inside J'klin snapped, he couldn't take his once-friend's deceit any longer. "Liar!" he repeated as his fist flew at the bronzerider, connecting with his face. "Quit lying to me! That's all you've ever done is lie!" he cried in an almost cadence as he continued to strike U'kaiah with multiple blows. He felt hands start to pull at him, pull him away from the object of his fury. He fought them too in his attempt to get at U'kaiah again, but they had his arms and he couldn't break free. The bronzerider tried to raise his arms to protect himself, but J'klin's rage just added strength to his blows, and for all his drunkenness, most were on target. U'kaiah wanted to fight back, to land a blow both for his protection and for his pride. But he knew if he did, he would never get Cyan back. And so he took it, blow after blow, until finally the snarling brownrider could be restrained.

J'klin finally untangled himself from the hands that held him, but now there were bodies between him and U'kaiah. He had lost his chance for anymore retribution, and he staggered towards the wall. "Fine! Be a coward and hide behind them. You know you deserved it though!" He took off running, using the wall for balance, he couldn't stand to look at the man who had ruined his life. U'kaiah fell back against the wall, clutching his sides painfully as he slid down the wall. Shards, but he hadn't taken such a beating since he was a boy! He slid down the wall, wincing in pain and fighting to catch his breath, thankful that _someone_ had come, or it could have been much worse. But as he looked off in the direction J'klin had stumbled off in he groaned. How much _more_ could go wrong?!
