"Sir?" Casisar had sought out the bronzrider on the weyrling staff because he was nervous.

"Yes?" U'kaiah asked, turning around to see who was calling for him. "Ah, Casisar. How can I help you?"

"That next hatching, everyone will be allowed to stand right?" he heard a small rumor that the weyrleaders might restrict the number of candidates. Why they would he had no idea.

"Of course all the candidates can stand," the bronzerider said with an amused smile. "Why wouldn't you? Don't listen to all the rumors you hear, lad."

"It's just that I head only those who hadn't stood before would get the chance." he knew they'd said it because they didn't like him.

"Who has been telling you this?" the bronzerider asked curiously.

"Tailors, candidates. I guess I'm not that popular. They problely just said it to get back at me."

"Back at you for what?"

Casisar shrugged. "I don't like to work on projects with some of the other apprentices. They don't do their share of the work."

"Well, that will happen throughout life, I'm afraid," U'kaiah said with an understanding nod. "You don't have to like it, but you still have to work through it."

"I know, I just want to make sure I can stand."

"Well, don't worry about that. If there was ever a reason when you couldn't Stand, you would _know_. Don't pay attention to rumors."

"Thank you sir, that makes me feel better."

"Any time you have questions, don't hesitate to ask me, all right?" the bronzerider said giving the lad a clap on the shoulder. "I won't." Casisar knew of course, why the bronzerider had been transfered. Everyone did. He decided that it didn't matter what he'd done, he was a good rider and Casisar, who didn't like anyone, liked him.
