Bare chested, Rorela stood in front of the mirror and stared with
dismay at the freshly healed scores that slid across her belly and
breasts. She did have nipples, but where there had been smooth skin
was now all...mottled, pink and raised. She did indeed still have
nipples, but scars had twisted the skin and made them look...wonky.
"Harki! How am I ever going to go out like this? I look awful!"
"You look fine." The other greenrider was lounging on a chair behind
her friend, trying not to let the sight of the scarring deter her.
"You look like you decided to cuddle some Thread, is all. It's fresh
now, but it'll fade the more it heals."
Rorela groaned. "I have more scars than boobs." She threw up her
hands, then turned, trying to see if there was an angle, any angle
that made them look at least attractive.
"Still looks good to me." A voice purred from the ledge entrance. "Still tasty."
Rorela whirled, then scowled at the grinning brownrider. "Fardles,
Ma'din, warn me before you just come on in." Her hands went to her
hips.
"You ain't got nothing I haven't seen, touched or tasted so....no." He
leaned against the wall and then spotted Harki in the chair. "Oh. Two
of you. And one half-naked. This has possibilities."
Harki snorted. "Sure, brownrider. What are you doing here?"
"Just coming to see Rorela." He glanced between the pair of them and
his grin grew wider. "Oh come on, you mean the pair of you haven't
ever shared a man..." He arched a brow. "Oh please tell me that my
wildest fantasy hasn't yet come true, because shards if I haven't
thought of it." He dodged a flying pillow that came from Rorela's
direction and laughed. "Never? Not even once?
Harki got up off her chair to stand behind Rorela. She ran her
fingertips up her friend's arms to the edges of her shoulders and gave
Ma'din a sly smile. "If we did, it certainly wasn't _you_."
Feeling wicked herself, Rorela leaned back against her and gave a
sultry, heated smile that was taunting. "Hmmm...Indeed." She raised a
hand to stroke Harki's shoulder behind her. "No, it wasn't. The two
of us? Well, that takes someone who really has...stamina. we wouldn't
just choose _anyone_for that."
Ma'din watched them, his mouth parted. It was growing very evident
that his imagination was playing scenarios in his mind that were
likely to be burned permanently into his brain. He blinked. "Hey! I
bloody well have stamina." He frowned, then narrowed his eyes.
"Better not have been G'nir, blast it."
Harki exchanged a look with Rorela, then bit her lip. "Couldn't say if
it was. Couldn't say if it wasn't."
Rorela snuggled back against Harki, purred as Ma'din glared. "No, we
can't, but he could handle both of us. He has a massive..." She was
interrupted by a frustrated growl from the brown rider, but fluttered
her lashes at him.
Ma'din's eyes sought Harki's and narrowed, clearly frustrated and
having some issues below the belt. "Shaffit, Harki, not G'nir."
"What do you have against G'nir?" Harki asked innocently.
"He's got a massive plank up his ass, that's what. It's bad enough
that Rorela's always been sweet on him, but not you too."
Rorela frowned at Ma'din, feeling defensive. Seeing something Harki
didn't, instead of arguing, she slowly gave a wicked smile. "I don't
mind sharing G'nir. Especially not with my best friend. Besides," she
continued sweetly, "he loves me. Why wouldn't I want to share that?"
"Well, I lo..." Ma'din clamped his jaw shut and scowled at Rorela,
pointing a finger at her. "You bitch."
Harki blinked. "Wait-- you can't be _jealous_."
"Thought so. I love being right." Rorela's smile gleamed with satisfaction.
"Course I'm not!" Ma'din's scowl deepened, his cheekbones standing out
as his face tightened. His gaze flicked to Harki, then back to Rorela,
who never faltered in her grin. "Fecking, interfering, bloody female!"
Ma'din whirled on his heel and stomped towards where Aznith waited.
Harki narrowed her eyes as she watched him walk back toward the ledge.
Out of habit her gaze dropped to his butt. That was... interesting.
Rorela was going to be insufferably smug, and Harki had no idea how
she felt about it. Flattered, certainly. But it was more complex than
that. "You flaming old biddy." She poked Rorela in the shoulder, then
hurried after Ma'din. "Hey-- get back here! I'm not done with you!"
Rorela's eyes gleamed with pure satisfaction and she was indeed smug.
She watched Harki hurry after Ma'din and plopped down in her chair.
"Operation Harki almost complete. Shards, I'm good."

Harki caught up to Ma'din just as he reached Aznith. She caught his
elbow to get him to stop. "I said I wasn't done with you!"
He yanked at Aznith's straps, preparing to life a foot to mount, but
as she caught his elbow he went still, jaw tight. "What?" The words
were bitten out sharply and he didn't look at her, instead staring
straight forward.
"Turn around, numb nuts." Harki pulled on his elbow until he relented,
then she stood on her tip-toes to kiss him.
He hadn't been expecting the kiss, but he responded immediately,
tangling his fingers in hair briefly before pulling away. Ma'din
looked down at her, face still tight. "I'm not jealous."
"I know." She flashed him a grin that could mean anything, then kissed
him again.
"You better." Ma'din's scowl lessened and he hauled her to him,
hungrily returning the kiss.
"Hey! No boinking or shagging or anything of the sort on my ledge,
unless I'm the one doing it." Rorela stuck her head around the corner,
eyeing the pair. "Ma'din, I know you love her ass, but you're going to
leave bruises if you keep grabbing her like that."
Harki gave Rorela a pointed look, then stepped out of Ma'din's
embrace. "_Now_ you can leave, brownrider."
Ma'din glared at Rorela only for a moment, muttering again about
interfering greenriders, then brushed his lips over Harki's once more.
"Yeah." He mounted Aznith, and without strapping himself in, held on
as Aznith stepped off of the ledge and spread his wings.
Rorela watched, a smug, wide smile on her face as she looked at Harki.
Harki put her hands on her hips and glared at Rorela. "You floozy. Why
do you have to go and make things weird and awkward?"
The grin didn't waver for an instant. "_That_ didn't look weird or
awkward. Looked like he was about to go at it with you against the
wall." Rorela flounced back into her weyr, humming brightly. "Admit
it," she called back. "Part of you is going all sorts of gooey."
"Yeah. My snot cavity." Harki snorted to make her point as she
followed Rorela inside. "Just you _wait_ until you and G'nir are
together... I'm not going to forget this."
"You keep forgetting that I don't get embarrassed." She plopped back
into her chair. "Do your worst. "
Harki batted her eyelashes. "Maybe you don't get embarrassed, but G'nir does!"
She was answered by narrowed eyes. "Hey. I'm the only one who gets to
embarrass G'nir. I didn't embarrass Ma'din. I just pissed him off."
She sniffed and waved her hand. "And I do that all the time."
"Turnabout is fair play," Harki shot back, then smiled. "But either
way, I think that this interlude proves that your boobs look
fabulous."
"No, it just proves that Ma'din likes boobs. Even scarred ones." She
sighed, then grinned back at her. "I bet he _loves_ yours much more."
"Ha. Ha." Harki wrinkled her nose, taking note of Rorela's sigh-- and
her smile. She came to a quick decision. If meddling in what went on
in Harki's bedfurs would cheer Rorela up, then it was worth the
embarrassment - and potentially awkward talk she might have to have
with Ma'din later.
