Danrina

Danrina

"How are you feeling, Nerylyn?" Danrina asked the other woman when she
approached and saw her sitting on a chair. She knew Nerylyn was due
soon. Danrina remembered how hard the last few sevendays were.

Plopping Dalvina down onto the group, Danrina took a seat near Nerylyn.

Hi, Danrina. I'm feeling like overloaded barge and tired of being
pregnant," Nerylyn replied with wry smile.
"I can't wait for this one to get out," she patted her belly. Being
small sized woman, her pregnancy stomach looked even larger.

Danrina snorted with agreement. 'The last sevendays were the toughest.
It's so hard to wait, yet the uncertainty remains as well. I'm sure
for you it's a bit different, being your fifth. Still each babe is a
gift. Are you hoping for a boy or a girl?"

"I have both, either is fine," Nerylyn replied. "How's your little
one? Eating and sleeping well, I hope?"

"Eating well, yes. Sleeping well, not as great as I had hoped. She
still wakes a few times a night and I find myself holding her to try
and settle her back down. Have any suggestions on helping to get her
to sleep through the night?" Danrina asked as she bent down to tickle
Dalvina who was trying to vie for some of her attention.

"Feed her well before she goes to sleep. If her stomach is full, she's
less likely to woke up due hunger. Also, don't react to every little
sound she makes. Wait a bit to see if she's really crying or just
making noise. Sometimes they even cry at sleep, like some people who
talk in asleep," Nerylyn advices. She had noticed that lot of the new
mother made a mistake of rushing to check their baby at the first
whimper. At the worst case, they woke their babies, who had just made
sounds in their sleep.

"Thank you, Nerylyn, that's really great advice. I will try that
tonight and see if it helps," Danrina replied.

"I learned it hard way," Nerylyn replied with a smile. "Of course,
some children are just restless sleepers. My second one was like that.
I dont' think she ever slept more than two candlemarks continuously
until she was like three. She still wakes up easier than the rest."

Danrina sighed, "I hope we sleep through the night before then!
Dalvina come here, baby," she patted her leg as the little one had
crawled over to Nerylyn and was pulling on the other woman's clothes.

Nerylyn gently detached the baby's fingers from her clothes, patter
her had and turned her around so she was facing her mother. "Your
mama's missing you," she said.

Danrina chuckled a bit, got up and picked up the little girl. "Can I
get you anything, Nerylyn before we have to head off?"

"No, thank you, I'm fine. I just wait here until my children start to
come from harper classes, then try to figure out how to get up from
this chair," Nerylyn replied. She did have her sewing basket next to
the chair, so she wouldn't be just sitting idle.

"That sounds like a great plan," Danrina replied. "Oh," she said,
wrinkling her nose, "I think Dalvina and I have an appointment with a
bath. I look forward to meeting the new one when he or she arrives."
Danrina picked up her stinky child and placed her on her hip to get
her changed.
