She had experienced the abrupt mood swings long enough to recognize
them for what they were, so when Camilth's hide shone with an inner
light in the dim light before dawn, Paetri knew exactly what to
expect. Making her way past an early morning crowd assembling for the
first meal of the day, she instead headed towards the entrance to the
flight rooms and waited. Pulling her braid through her fingers, she
watched the ledge of her weyr, her heart pounding as the sun broke
over the horizon and began its slow creep upwards. As it touched upon
the ledge, she stilled, hands clamped down tightly the thick cord of
hair; it didn't take long.

Camilth emerged, her green hide glowing with health and a burgeoning
lust for both blood and flight. Her high-pitched bugle announced her
intentions as she spread her wings, then dove for the herdbeasts that
had already started to scatter. Paetri never particularly enjoyed this
part, for Camilth, in her greed, cared little for the mess she made.

Sh'lua turned on his heels when Galerith answered to the green's mating
call.
** No breakfast? ** he asked mournfully. The big bluerider liked his meals.

}: No time for breakfast, :{ Galerith confirmed, leaving his ledge to
join the green at the feeding pens.

**Not even klah,** Sh'lua sighed and moved into light jog.

"I'll be back," W'ser instructed the dragonhealer apprentrice as he
washed his hands and forearms and rolled his sleeves back down. Through
his connection with Branth, he could feel the brown dragon watching
Camilth hungrily. It had been a while since the brown had caught a
green, and he was more than easy to try and catch Paetri's lovely lifemate.

When Jayth told R'axe that it was Camilth and Paetri, the bluerider
grinned with familiarity. He and Paetri were no stranger to one another,
and so it was with a spring in his step that the bluerider headed for
the flight room.

}:Camilth rises.:{ Noreth informed him matter of factly, his tone
belying the strong feelings of desire that A'chas felt from his dragon.
The brown was eager.

Sighing, he set his tools down and made his way to the flight rooms. He
wasn't in the mood, he never was this time of year, but his dragon had
other ideas. Who knew, maybe he was right.

L'keri was rarely out of bed this early unless compelled by duty or
drills, but when he felt the sudden intensity of desire in his link with
his brown and heard the green's cry, he was immediately wide awake and
hurrying to dress with a hopeful smile tugging at the corners of his
mouth. Sharing a flight with his wingmate Paetri would be a delightful
way to start the day...if only Rhalith was lucky enough to win her.

K'ale wasn't far behind though he yawned as he trotted toward the
flight rooms. But he grinned when he saw his da coming down from the
other way. "Torerath too?"

D'ale reached out to clap his son's shoulder. "May the best brown
win," he grinned.

It was too early, and like most days at Dragonsfall, it was too cold,
but Menanth wanted to chase and D'ren couldn't deny him. Well, at
least this would be a distraction for a while. Menanth watched Camilth
hungrily, desire for the green burning inside him.

Camilth snarled at the surrounding males before savaging a herd beast
with vicious twists of her head. Their postures, their obvious
desires, all drove her to blood, then flee from them with a leap into
the air. She shrieked out her freedom, gleeful as they scrambled to
catch up.

Swaying as Camilth flung herself into the air, Paetri couldn't help
but notice the group of men that surrounded her. Some she knew well,
some only in passing, and a few hardly at all. Their faces blended
with their chasing dragons as she allowed herself to meld fully with
Camilth as she flew.

Galerith leaped to air, going after her with admiring croon.

With a powerful downbeat of his wings, Rhalith followed the green, her
high, wild cry urging him on. He was a fraction behind the faster blues,
but he wasn't concerned yet. He'd flown with Camilth in Fall, and knew
she was strong and would fly far. There would be time to outpace his rivals.

Branth wasted no time getting into the air, but some of the blues were
a bit faster. He grumbled as Jayth whooshed past him so quickly that
their wingtips brushed. Jayth called out to the green as the pack rose
into the air. He was fast and agile, he would take her on a glorious
flight!

Imalkyth made it into the air a heatbeat before Torerath but soon both
of the browns were winging after the fleet green.

Noreth bugled a challenge to both the green and the other males. He
was not the oldest dragon flying but he was older than most of the
dragons giving chase. However, he was strong and clever and he'd won
many a Flight. He would win this one too.

On the ground, A'chas let his mind be swept along with his dragon's.
The joy of it, the fierce need and bold challenge of it. The powerful
emotions sweeping aside his own melancholy, if only for a little
while, was a relief in itself.

Exultant in her freedom, Camilth paid little attention to her chasers
at first. She was unrestrained, taking feverish delight in the clouds,
and slipping in and out of them to mask where she would fly next. A
bright flash of wings behind her caught her attention, and the found
that the posturing males had pursued her. Browns, blues,
bronzes...they all desired her.

She banked into a cloud, using its thickness to hide before popping
out to call with a seductive croon to the chasing males. They were not
quick enough to catch her! The moisture from her surroundings formed
little droplets on her wings, and as she shot out going the opposite
direction, she looked behind her. Her tongue flicked out in an open
taunt as she flicked her tail and strove to outpace all of them.

D'ren surrendered to the bond with his dragon, suddenly on wings
chasing the beautiful green ahead of him. She was far too fast for
him, but he had patience and he had learned many tricks to catch a
swift green.

The way she flicked her tail! Jayth bugled after her as he gave a little
burst of speed to stay closer to her as they whipped through the clouds.

Branth was mesmerized by the way the green's lithe body looked as it
shed the moisture of the clouds. She was positively radiant and so he
cut a different path than Jayth to hopefully catch her unawares.

Rhalith's wing muscles strained as he tried to match the tight turns and
rapid changes in direction and pursue the agile green through the maze
of clouds. Sunlight glinted off the mist and from Camilth's wings,
dazzling him at moments, and he focused intently on her, knowing that
one mistake would leave him far behind, out of the race. But that would
not happen! He called out to her, crooning his desire and longing.

Galerith was relishing the sheer pleasure of the flight. There was
nothing like the challenge of trying to catch a vily, agile green. He
couldn't match her twists and turns but he was strong, large blue and
had the stamina to just wait until she tired.
}: You're so beautiful and so clever in the air, :{ he crooned his
compliments and admiration to Camilth.

She was a flirt and Imalkyth couldn't resist the taunt. He bugled his
praise and lifted up on his wide wings steady on a current that sent
him back after her but at a higher altitude.

Torerath dove under and twisted in the air. This one was a little
trickster but he was convinced he could catch her.

Noreth's wings beat a steady rhythm, he was not as maneuverable as the
smaller dragons, but he could easily keep up flying alongside on a
straight path. He watched Camilth, anticipating where the green would
turn and adjusting his wings to keep in line. He had flown many a
green in his nearly four decades and he knew most of their tricks.
This one was particularly quick, making it difficult and he enjoyed
the challenge. He could feel his rider with him, enjoying it too and
that made him strive harder to win. He kept a close eye on the green,
hoping to see her make a move he could easily intercept.

Camilth was tiring, so taking a moment, she turned her head to peer at
those who chased her. They were fine dragons all, but who did she
prefer? Her wings ached and she slowed, allowing the dragons to move
closer. She was ready, but were they? She considered them further,
then with a croon, slid directly into Rhalith's path. She flicked her
tail again, inviting him to catch and twine.

The brown didn't hesitate to respond and used up the last reserves of
his strength as he surged forward to catch her, reaching out to wind his
neck and tail with hers and enfold her in his wings. He cried out in
triumph and wild delight, while far below them his rider, as one with
his lifemate, moved to take hers in his arms and claim her with an
ardent kiss.

Noreth rumbled in disappointment as he glided toward the ground to
rest. On the ground, A'chas felt his mind return to himself completely
and he sighed. He debated letting one of the moths draw him into
another room, but finally decided against it. He went back to his
project not sure if he was relieved or disappointed.
