Tavia

Tavia

Tavia had barreled through the halls to her own Weyr and curled up on
her bed with no little misery. Glory's flights were always a bit of a
trial and she hadn't even realized this one was coming so she could
prepare. No friend to ease her through, but she'd done it before and
could do it again.

It was with a little trepidation that U'kaiah peeked his head into the
greenrider's weyr. He wasn't sure what was going on, nor that his
interference would be welcome. But leaving Kaiafel's party suddenly
without explanation was not like her. Not seeing her in the living
area, we walked over to her sleeping area and stood in the entrance.
See her curled up like that on her bed concerned him. "Tavia? What's
wrong?"

"Nothing," she said in surprise. Then realized that her position gave
the lie to her response. She wilted. "Oh U'kaiah," she moaned. "Can
you just hold me?"

"Of course." Her answer didn't relieve his worries, but he was glad
that there was something he could do to help. He kicked off his boots
as he removed his dress jacket and threw it over a chair before
sliding onto the bed beside her and curling an arm under her head.
"Do you want to talk about it?"

She burrowed her head under his chin. "Its' not... talking," she said
to his chest. "It's," she tilted her head up to look into his eyes.
"Glory," she shuddered as the flight lust swamped her and she kissed
him.

Tavia's words confused him, but there was no mistaking the fire in
that kiss. Shards, it had been so long since there had been any heat
between them! And the unending loneliness he had felt since he had
left Dragonsfall was just as powerful as the lust she was feeling in
that moment. Questions lingered in his mind, but he pushed them down,
knowing he would be a fool to do anything but dig his fingers into her
hair and return her passion in kind.

Her need exploded and she responded almost like a flight, yet not. She
retained her mind 'thought her emotions overwhelmed her as she clung
to U'kaiah. She loved him yet all her reservations were stripped away.
They no longer mattered or interfered with her need.

Their coming together was reminiscent of their early days together
when things were rushed, not only because they had to keep one eye on
the candlemark, but also because they felt that overwhelming heat of
the novelty. That heat had cooled to a comfortable burn as their
knowledge of each other, and feelings, grew. Their long separation,
their frustrations with each other, now fanned those old flames anew
as they both lost themselves in the moment once more.

She responded and flew with him where they both so badly wanted to go.
Perhaps in later reflection she might attribute Glory with breaking
the ice for her but this was what she wanted. This wild joining she'd
so missed was part of the reason she'd fallen for him in the first
place. She didn't cry when she started to come down from such a great
height but she curled against his side and just hugged him to her like
she'd never let him go again.

U'kaiah's quick breaths came in shudder heaves. The smell of her, the
feel of her body fitted so perfectly against his own. It felt like he
was home for the first time in Faranth knew how long. But it felt
like such a fragile feeling, even his sound of his breath might scare
it away, and
so he fought his body's need for air as best he could as his mind
silently begged her, **Please don't let go just yet. Just a little
longer.**

Tavia's mind and emotions whirled together warring with one another as
she struggled with the consequences of their joining. Emotionally it
was too soon but it was also a very longed for consummation. Her
feelings were jumbled and her emotions compromised. So what could she
say but, "I love you" very softly.

U'kaiah said nothing with words for a long moment, though he did
tighten his hold on her. Finally he whispered, "Can I tell you
something you don't know about me?"

She giggled remembering the game they'd played at the very beginning. "Please."

He smiled, also remembering the moments they shared as they gained
insights into each other's secrets and inner thoughts. But this one
was serious. This one he had not been able to say out loud until now.
"I've been afraid to tell you that I love you," he admitted, glad that
her face was buried under his chin. U'kaiah knew he would not be able
to say it if he had to look her in the eye. "I'm afraid that you
might say it back, and I know that I haven't done much to deserve it.
It makes me feel ashamed that you have always loved me so well, and I
always screw it up. But I'm even more afraid that someday I will say
it to you, and you
won't say it back at all. So even though I feel it every day, I can't
tell you what I feel."

She didn't look up but listened to his heart beat with her healers
ear. It had slowed to a steady beat. "Thank you," she smiled at his
chest. "The heart wants what it wants it's not about deserving it. My
heart wants you. It's been hard on us all but we can make it through
this." Her eyes began to mist. They hadn't just talked about things
without emotions and loneliness getting in her way. Plus the only
other woman affected as much by this was Aileyan and she was so angry
she was dealing with her anger by acting out and not in a good way.
Even though Tavia knew she cared deeply for U'kaiah. But now was not
the time to bring that up. In fact now was not the time to work
through their own issues. "Do you think we should get back to the
birthday boy?"

"Yes, I suppose so," he said reluctantly. Just holding her made
U'kaiah feel stronger and more complete than he had in more than a
Turn, he was loathe to let her go. But he was here for his son.
Still... "I have a favor to ask you."

"Alright," she said simply.

"I forgot my dress jacket in your weyr. I don't suppose you could
bring it to me when you have a bit of time on your hands," he said,
hopefully she'd understand and accept the invitation.

A smile spread across her face and she laughed silently. "I think I'll
find it and return it to you."

"Good. I'll need it eventually, I'm sure." U'kaiah tilted her chin
up with a finger and kissed her softly. "I don't want to go back," he
whispered against her lips, but he couldn't decide if he meant to the
party, or to his Weyr. Perhaps it was both.
