Zh'no's mind emerged from the fog as he could feel himself slowly
rising to consciousness. Before opening his eyes, he decided to take
stock of the situation. Where was he? Well, it had been a Flight, so
most likely a Flight room. Who was he with? He could definitely the
heat and weight of the body on his arm, side and chest. His Wingmate,
Tavia. He clearly remembered her in the middle of the circle.
**Good,** he thought with a slight smile. Zh'no preferred waking up
next to a woman after a Flight. As much as he liked sex with men, he
was not as comfortable with Flight sex with them.
Feeling a bit more settled, the bluerider opened his eyes, only a
little at first to allow them to adjust to the light if there was any,
and then finally wide open. **I've been in this room before,** he
noticed, recognizing the cracks on the ceiling.
Tavia woke slowly and stretched with a satisfied smile. "Mmmm, Thank
you," she said before she even opened her eyes.
"It was Peohth and Sawauth's doing, but I'm happy with the results."
Zh'no didn't like taking credit for actions that he had not much
control over. But he was happy that she seemed satisfied with the
results.
"Me too," she said. Tavia turned over and pillowed her head on the
other riders shoulder. The languid feeling of a well flown flight put
her in a mellow state of mind and she had never been one to be
missish. "Don't think we've flown together before," she smiled.
"No, I don't believe so." Zh'no had felt very awkward in his first
few Flights being so intimate with someone he only knew with their
clothes on. But over time he had grown more comfortable with it all,
and so he naturally shifted his arm to give her better access to his
shoulder and ensure his hand didn't fall asleep. "Does Suwauth
usually choose blue?"
"Not really," she smiled. "For the most part she seems to like brown.
Though there are occasional blues and bronzes." Tavia was used to
flights with an easy familiarity that came from turns of practice.
She could almost feel the mood of her partner and this one seemed a
little standoffish. So she pushed herself to a sitting position. "You
thirsty," she asked as she swung her legs over the side of the bed.
He was in fact, so he gave her a nod as he pushed himself up in the
bed and braced his back against the headboard. "Please." Zh'no
admired the muscles in her back and the curve of her hip. "Blues far
out number bronzes and browns. It's only right we should slip in
there sometimes."
She got up and walked to the table and poured two glasses. Then she
brought them back to the bed. "There's some fruit too if you'd like.:
"Just this is fine, thank you," he smiled, taking the glass with one
hand and pulling back the tangled sheet to make room for her. "How
are you feeling?"
"Good," she smiled back at him as she folded her legs back into the
bed. It was sometimes the luck of the draw that made a flight good or
back but she was willing to chalk this one up on the good side.
"Haven't seen you in the infirmary since that injury. How's it
healing," she asked and took a generous
pull from her glass.
The bluerider instinctively flexed his foot where a bovine had stepped
on it. "It healed pretty quickly, thank you. I didn't even have to
miss drills."
"Good," she winked at him. "No pain or anything?"
"No. You are a natural healer. A very gentle touch." Zh'no knew
better than most what it took to be a good healer. "I'm surprised you
didn't specialize in working with animals. Or children."
"Aw," she smiled. "That's nice for you to say."
Zh'no finished his drink and set it aside. This was where things got
difficult for him. It was easy when a greenrider took a bit of
initiative and told or showed him what they wanted. When Peohth
caught the same green a couple times, it was easy to know what to do. But
always for the bluerider a first flight was the hardest. It was
obvious that she was open to more since she had not excused herself
earlier, but navigating just how to initiate it was not easy for him.
"Is that what you like? A gentle touch?" he asked, looking down at
the space between them rather than at her face. If it sounded too
corny or forward, he didn't have to see the disapproving look on her
face that way.
There were times when she enjoyed a vigorous session with someone she
cared about. But she'd also found that a gentle slow wrythe could
bring great pleasure to both partners. "That is sometimes the very
best," she said with a smile in her voice. "Is it what you like?"
"At times." It really depended on the partner and the circumstances.
"It can be a good place to start." Though after a Flight he usually
found that the residual flightlust quickly moved things along. "Is
there somewhere you need to be anytime soon?"
"No," she said simply. Kaiavin was with his foster mother and she
never expected Tavia on flight days anyway. She set down her glass and
then slid back under the covers with a soft smile. This was nice and
easy without the complication of emotions to clutter the simple
pleasure. She reached for him.
Zh'no allowed himself to drawn down to her. As he kissed her softly,
he also was relieved at how easy it could be. He had never really
talked to Tavia, but he had always liked her. She never seemed
involved in the drama that so many seemed to enjoy wallowing in to
pass the time between drills and Threadfall. He hoped that maybe this
could lead to learning more about her in the future. But very quickly
all thoughts of the future faded away as he gave himself over
completely to the moment.
