Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 1, day 28 of Turn 9
"Good day so far, Weyrleader?" Saibra asked as she sat beside of
K'reyel in the Dining Cavern for lunch.
"So far it is. Drills went well today." The Weyrleader grinned as he
reached for the pitcher of juice to fill his glass. "You want some?"
Saibra held out her glass. "How is Hanni doing? I know that was a
close call in 'fall."
"She'll be okay," K'reyel said as he filled the glass. "More shock
than anything else."
"That happens to us all at some point," Saibra said as she looked up,
her eye being caught by the figure of a dragonrider approaching their
table.
**When did he..?**
}:Mnoranth told me not to say anything, he wanted to surprise you I
believe.:{ Chioneth told her.
"Good afternoon Weyrleader, Weyrwoman," he bowed to each of them in
turn. "My duty to your lifemates." His smile at Saibra was warm almost
caressing. "May I," he waived at the chair in front of him.
"Please do," K'reyel was slightly surprised to see the other
bronzerider. He was aware, of course that Saibra was very close to
him, but given the time difference to Dolphin Cove, it was a slight
surprise to see him, when it was late in the evening for him.
R'enh pulled out the chair and sat. He reached for Saibra's hand and
brought it to his lips. He didn't even try to hide the love in his
eyes from the Weyrleader. "Have you told him yet," he asked.
"Yes, I'm afraid I had to since I was so nauseous during our meeting
that I had to carry crackers." Saibra smiled a little, and she'd
needed to explain to her Weyrleader why she wouldn't be traveling
anywhere /between/ for a while.
"I'm sure that won't last for long though, Mai said she was over it
quickly with Mayel. My Ma would have said that sickness means you'll
have a little girl." K'reyel had passed a glass and the pitcher to
R'enh so the other man could refresh himself.
"Well that sounds good," he looked questioning at Saibra. "How was it
when you had Saidrene?"
That was over nineteen Turns ago, and now the details felt fuzzy to
Saibra. "Well, I remember being more sick with Kaibren than I was with
Saidrene. I had more indigestion with Saidrene, though." Luckily she
wasn't far enough along for that to be a problem yet.
He smiled and squeezed her hand, apologizing and supporting at the
same time. "Well this is a first for me," he said. "I didn't know
about Zorenh until he was already two turns." He looked back over at
K'reyel, "But that brings up another subject." He looked around to
make sure no one was listening in to their conversation. "I'd like to
come meet with you soon, if you don't mind."
"Oh?" K'reyel's eyebrow raised slightly.
Saibra's eyebrow matched K'reyel's, this was the first she'd heard
about R'enh wanting to meet with the Weyrleader of Dragonsfall.
"Yes," he smiled at both of them. "I'd like to discuss the possibility
of my transfer here." He squeezed her hand. "It has been on my mind
should Saibra become pregnant." He'd long felt they didn't have enough
time together and 'timing' it had been a poor solution. "That is if
you like the idea," he finished directly to Saibra.
The Weyrwoman's blue eyes became as wide as saucers, "_You_ move
_here_? Of course I like the idea," she said, although she tried to
refrain from gushing about it in front of K'reyel. It's just that
she'd never thought R'enh would actually leave Dolphin Cove.
"Sir?" R'enh turned his attention back to the Weyrleader. "May I visit
you soon about the possibilities here?"
"You may," replied K'reyel equally formally.
Saibra was sure this was some sort of too-good-to-be-true dream that
she was going to wake up from at any moment. K'reyel, the Weyrleader
she actually enjoyed working with and liked on a personal basis, and
the man whom she loved desperately, R'enh, were going to discuss
R'enh's possible transfer to Dragonsfall?
"When would be convenient?" His eyes slid to Saibra and the look on
her face was all that he could have hoped for.
"Tomorrow morning?" suggested K'reyel. He'd caught the look that had
passed between them. "I promised Mai I'd spend some time with her and
Mayel this afternoon, and I've done precious little of that since
coming here."
"I'll be there," R'enh nodded.
