Description: Corvera gets caught going through the storerooms looking for a special something...
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 10, day 9 of Turn 3
Corvera rummaged through the store rooms with her normally wide eyes only half open. Her search was not aided by the fact that half the glows in the room were covered, but light any stronger hurt her head too much
-- as did the occasional clicks of glass and metal containers as she shifting thins around looking for various herbs and flowers she needed -
lavender for the headache, pinkroot to clear her mind, and sage to purify the blood.
}: Why are you at the healers'? :{ Mnaiath was more than midly concerned.
** Not so loud...** Corvera groaned. **It's just a hangover, calm down.**
Rigella entered the storeroom reading the list a journeyman had given to her. "Let's see, thyme... redworth...almond oil...aak!" she let out a little startled scream when she found out someone was already there, in a half dark, supposedly empty storage. She pushed open the nearest glowbasket. "Excuse me, you don't look like infirmary staff?"
Corvera glared at the glowbasket evilly. "That's because I'm not." She stepped into its light so the girl could see who she was. Normally, she'd never pull rank on anyone, but today she wasn't in the mood for politeness.
"Oh. I'm sorry, Weyrwoman. But you shouldn't be here. If you need something, please, just ask and we get it for you. Unauthorized persons shouldn't be rummaging around here," Rigella said. She was unable to keep the scolding tone out from her voice, no matter who she was. Some of the herbs in the storage room were poisonous, not to mention that some non-healer might mess up the system which the herbs were organized by.
"I know exacty what I'm after, thank you." She turned back around and gave her attention back to her task. Her tone was more cordial this time.
"Are you sure? Maybe I could help?" Rigella asked.
Corvera sighed. She certainly wasn't getting anywhere alone... "I need lavender, pinkroot, and sage." She crossed her fingers and hoped to Faranth that the girl wouldn't know what that combination of ingredients was for. It wouldn't look very responsible for a Weyrwoman to be hungover.
The apprentice gave the weyrwoman a curious glance. She could remember her own hangover not long ago and what she had used to get rid off it.
"Can I recommend asparagus too?" she said, picking the asked herbs from shelves and pots.
"Oh you most certainy can, kind and gentle creature." Corvera leaned against the coo wall, a little embarrassed at her current state, but if the Rigella was able to suggest an addition to her potion, obviously the girl had been in a similar situtation.
"Do you know how to prepare them?" Rigella asked after she had gotten the asparagus.
"Work the pinkroot into a paste with a litte water, add your sage and ground lavendar and dilute to taste." Corvera was well aquainted with the recipe. "Where, do you suppose, the asparagus would enter the mix?"
"Ground it to a paste with the pinkroot," Rigella replied.
Corvera nodded and took the packet of herbs that Rigella handed her. She was going to turn and leave, but she paused a moment. "It would be best," she began. "If you kept this little incident to yourself... I'm not sure it paints the most respectable image of a Weyrwoman..."
"There is thing called healer's confidentaly. We don't blabber about our patients. The stories we could tell if did! You can trust me," Rigella answered with her most dignified manner. She was slightly insulted that she thought she would gossip!
The Weyrwoman visibly relaxed. "Oh thank Faranth." She took inhaled deeply, nodding her head. "Well, Rigella, if there's ever anything -
within reason - that you need... I have a quite favorable opinion of you." She smiled conspiritorily.
"Thank you, ma'am. I hope that potion works," Rigella said and replied with a conpiratory wink.
"Me, too!" She put a gentle hand to her head as though pressing against it would relieve the pain. "I think I'm going to go lay down again..."
She pouted a little. "Good work, Rigella. Good work."
"You do that, Ma'am. Thank you," Rigella said and thanked the compliment.
Corvera nodded a few times and turned back toward her weyr. It was high time that she drugged herself.
Rigella returned to her list and to the supplies she had asked to get, pushing the whole incident out from her mind.
