Location: Sunstone Seahold
Date: month 12, day 17 of Turn 8

The hardest part about moving to a new Hold was trying to figure out where to find what you need when you need it. Kiomo, definitely was lost. Again. Thankfully, there seemed to be someone who knew where they were going!

"Uh, excuse me, young man?" he called to the youth walking ahead of him down the corridor. "Could I trouble you for a moment?"

As usual Lafael's head was in the clouds. It didn't register that someone had spoken to him until he had walked several paces on. In a dumb stupor he stopped, then turned and stared openly at the man. At the new man, who had had ever seen before.

"You're new here," he stated, more as a question.

"Yes," Kiomo nodded, "And I'm lost. Could you help me find a storeroom where I can get some glows? The ones in my room are looking pretty dim."

"Glows? Storeroom? But that's on the other side of the Hold." Lafael didn't hide the dismay in his voice at the thought of having to walk clear across the Hold. Then he took in a few more of the man's features. "Sir," he added hastily when it occurred to him that this might be a man of rank. He was certainly dressed finely.

The other side of the Hold? Well, that figured. "I'm sorry to impose, but are you really busy right now? Could you maybe show me the way?"

Was he busy? Lafael shook his head no. Actually, he_was_busy--or rather the Hold lady he was helping was making sure she kept him busy--but what harm would it do to help this new man? And he was much more handsome than the Lady. "Come with me." Lafael all but dropped the stack of neatly folded dresses from his arms and gestured to Kiomo to follow him. "So you're new here? Where did you come from?"

"I was at Garnet Valley Hold," Kiomo said, falling in beside the young man. "I'm still pretty lost around here." He looked over at the load Lafael was carrying. "Are you sure I'm not pulling you away from anything important?"

"Oh no, it's okay." Already Lafael had forgotten all about his task on hand. Helping the new holder was much more interesting. He waved the man to follow him and began his tour of the Holding, beginning with where they were at, in the outer main Hold. He pointed out the various drudges and workers as they walked, who might be of use and who to avoid, particularly those few who were friends of the Headwoman's missing son. "Have you met Yriadha yet?" His eyes widened a bit as he said her name.

"No, not yet." But the way people had talked about her had made him very curious. "What is she like?"

"Oh...uh...she's not been around much." Quick, change the subject! Lafael looked around, searching for something--anything--to talk about rather than the Headwoman. "Oh look, a dragon transport is here!" He pointed out the window to the rather ancient looking blue that was settling down in the courtyards. "Aren't they pre--" He broke the word off as the blue turned its head and seemed to looked up to their window...to look at them. Suddenly Lafael felt a soft pressure in his head, like a voice that wasn't his trying to form words. He clutched the wall, a sweat breaking out over his face.

"Whoa there." Kiomo reached out a hand to steady the lad. "You all right?"

At first Lafael didn't even hear him. It was hard, when there was a soft voice also trying to get his attention. He fell away from the window and slumped to the ground. Vaguely he remembered Kiomo's words. "S-sir?"

Kiomo was already looking around trying see if anyone might be around that he could send for help. He was torn between leaving the boy to find someone, and the fear of leaving him alone. "Yeah, I'm here. I think we need to get you some help..."

"No...I'm okay." Lafael shook his head and staggered to his feet. Whatever had happened, the dragon had caused it, this he was sure. But how or why, now that was beyond him. He edged away from the window and motioned to Kiomo. "The storage rooms aren't far away now."

Kiomo followed him hesitantly. "Are you sure? You really didn't look so good..."

"Yeah, I'm fine..." And this wasn't exactly the first time this had ever happened, had it? Lafael smiled at the man to try to hide his feelings. Without prompting he walked on, only stopping once they stood before an opened door. Inside were some old aunties looking over bolts of cloth. "Here it is, sir." Lafael pointed to the room.

"Fantastic. Well, thank you..." Kiomo trailed off in the hopes that the drudge would supply his name since they hadn't exchanged them before.

"Oh...uh...Lafael, I'm called." The drudge gave Kiomo a little wave. "But I should be off now...if that's okay?"

"Of course, thanks," Kiomo said as he watched the drudges sudden disappearance. Alright, now to find the glows!
