G'nir was carrying his breakfast plate and looking for a place to sit. He spotted a familiar, young bronzerider. "Good morning, J'nev. Is this seat taken?" he asked and gestured towards a free seat across him. The two of them hadn't really talked for a while, both being busy at their own lives. Perhaps it was time to correct that.
"No, please," J'nev said with a welcoming smile. He had always liked the older bronzerider, and followed him with pride when he was Weyrleader. " How is Nirreth these days?"
"He's fine, as happy as ever," G'nir replied. Dragons had so simple lives that he sometimes envied them. "How is Ankioth, he's been spared from injuries?" G'nir took his seat. He rather liked J'nev, feeling like mentor of sorts for the young bronzerider.
"Yes, sir. We're both in top form." They were proving to be a mighty fine pair, and even lead sections in drills sometimes.
"It's good to hear that," G'nir said. "What else you have been doing? We haven't really talked since I became the Weyrlingmaster." He had been so busy learning his new job.
"Just my duty to the Weyr..." Though there was something J'nev did want to tell G'nir. "And catching a green here and there..."
"Well, that's always great. Nirreth hasn't beent lucky in that front lately althoug he keeps trying," G'nir replied.
"I'm sorry if Ankioth caught them instead." J'nev leaned forward slight and said with a grin, "But not _too_ sorry, if you know what I mean."
"I know what you mean. You can't win them all," G'nir replied amiably. He was so young that it was hard to see him as competition.
J'nev was sure G'nir would understand. Not like someone else they both knew. And while he could trust him not to get jealous, he was hoping he could get at least a little of the older bronzerider's respect. "Ankioth caught Kjarliheth, Aileyan's green."
"Oh? Now that's luck," G'nir commented. Nirreth had lucked out with that green once too, but it had been a while back. He remembered the greenrider being surprisingly passionate for someone so reticient.
"Yeah," though J'nev preferred to not think of it as merely luck. Ankioth was the best and the green knew it! "I had caught her once before, but she was with sharding U'kaiah back then, so things didn't go well after. You know he actually _punished_ me for winning her Flight?" Of course, he wasn't going to tell the former Weyrleader that he hadn't deserved at least Aileyan's brand of punishment after the way he talked to her, but still! It hadn't been his Wingleader's sharding business! "He gave me the hardest, longest, coldest sweeprides he could for sevendays." **What an ass...**
"Well, U'kaiah was never able to stay objective when she was involved. Which is why she was moved to another wing," G'nir said with preachy tone. "You should have filed a complain back then," he said with dangerous gleam in his eyes. Oh, how he would had loved to denote U'kaiah back then.
"I tried to, with Kenza cause she was the Wingthird! But then she just took _his_side." Why was it that every woman seemed to think U'kaiah was so sharding perfect? Well, at least Aileyan now knew better. "Anyway, she's not U'kaiah's special friend anymore. Things went _alot_ different this time."
"You should had passed her and come to me instead. Well, that's water under the bridge now. She not with anyone for as far as I know and she's better of without _him_. I take it you had a good time?" G'nir replied.
"Oh yeah. A _really_ good time. And then again, after the last fall." J'nev hid his pleased grin behind his mug of klah.
"Oh?" G'nir was curious. While he had had interest in her, it hadn't been serious one. It had been just an attempt to get under U'kaiah's skin.
"I have a question for you." J'nev leaned forward slightly and lowered his voice. "While I was with Aileyan, you know, getting it on, I kind of thought of U'kaiah. That doesn't make me a little... green... does it?"
"Only green with envy. You've been dragonrider for what? Four-Five Turns?" G'nir replied.
J'nev did a quick mental calculation. "Ankioth is four."
"So, you're no longer wet-behind-ears," G'nir replied.
"Definitely not. I've had women in and out of the Flight room. Ankioth is no blue. Shards, I even take a lead in drills sometimes." Not the whole Wing of course, but sections of it. As was right for a bronzerider after all. "But... I mean picturing your former Wingleader while you're having sex with a girl... I mean, it's not like I was imagining it was _him_ I was giving it to or anything..."
"Sounds like you're obsessed with him," G'nir said with certain amusement. "Forget him, he's no longer here," he adviced. "There's no reason to compete with someone who's in different Weyr."
"No, but listen." J'nev leaned even closer and lowered his voice so only the other bronzerider could hear him. "I was on her, right? I didn't want to look down at her face, 'cause, you know, that _face_! Shards, I would lose it, she's so pretty. So I was looking around. And when I looked at the door, I got this image of U'kaiah walking in and seeing me getting it on with her, hearing her moaning for me. Just the thought of his face, shards, G'nir, it made me so flaming hot! And I swear, I've never been ready again so fast. And when she was on me, I could picture his face if he saw us right then. And I just thought, 'That's right, you son of a wherry, she's riding me now. _Me_.'" He shoved his thumb into his chest for emphasis. "I might be obsessed, G'nir, but never had it so good. Never."
"Well, that's great for you," G'nir said with kind of paternal amusement. Shards, he was so young. If he thought that was good, what would he think when he got older and really learned how to please a woman?
