Description: Jielta and Miyon leave for the Weyr.
Location: River Bluff Weyr, Vintner Hall
Date: month 8, day 15 of Turn 8
The blue dragon spiraled down into the courtyard in front of the
Tavern at Vintner Hall. There was never a lack of dragons in the area
as it was popular with dragonriders. But today the knots and badge
were from far to the north of Dragonsfall. Riverbluff colors along
with a searcher's thread proclaimed the rider's origin.
"Aren't you a bit far from your home territory bluerider?" Master
Clovente grinned his good humor at the blonde rider.
"Master," D'arvn smiled back. "I'm here as transportation today. Not poaching."
Clovente's hearty laugh filled the air while several of his young
apprentices shoulders slumped. Here they'd though they would have an
opportunity to be searched.
"Come on," Jielta urged Miyon forwards. She took the bag of toys he'd
insisted on taking when he finally understood what was about to
happen. "If I carry this, we can get there a bit faster. Don't worry
about Papa, I left him a note to say we were going to see Mama. It's
okay, he'll understand." Miyon was far too young to understand that
although Jielta was his sister, they had different fathers.
"'kay," he muttered. Then he caught sight of the dragon, his eyes
widened. "Is he here for us?"
D'arvn smiled when he saw the young woman and child coming toward him.
"Hi," he said. "You Jielta?"
"Yes," she said simply. "My duty to you and your dragon Bluerider."
"Falzeth thanks you," D'arvn nodded, then leaned over to grab the bags
and strap them into the cargo nets.
Clovente looked back and forth between the two and his eyes narrowed
slightly though his expression remained pleasant. "Going somewhere
Jielta?" He'd noted the bags and her little brother. He was mildly
interested in the young woman and though he'd not spoken to her
father, had thought about it on occasion.
"Mama asked us to visit her," she said politely. "She's Headwoman now
at River Bluff, and neither of us have seen her in a long while. It's
time we did something about that."
"Headwoman? Oh well then have a nice visit," he smiled. It was a
little surprising that Fielton had allowed it but then perhaps time
had eased some of the former Hallmaster's ... er 'feelings?' No, that
wasn't the right word but he'd just let it go. "Say hello to your
mother for me," he nodded and then turned to gather up his apprentices
and headed off toward the pressing shed.
D'arvn held out his hand, "May I assist you?"
"Of course," she said. "It's been a long time since I've been on a
dragon. And this will be Miyon's first time."
"Ahh, well then Miyon must have the very best seat," he smiled. "You
stay right here while I get your sister settled then we'll set you up
in front of her alright?" As he helped her mount, Falzeth's neck
curved around to observe the young woman more closely.
**Don't, not now**
}: But she...:{
**Not here, and not now**
"Is he okay with me sat here?" she asked as she reached for the belt
buckle to fasten the strap, "I've not upset him have I?"
"He's just fine," D'arvn smiled as he handed Miyon up to her. "We take
passengers all the time. Sometimes he's just interested is all."
Okay, that sounded lame even to him but he smiled reassurance and then
bent his head as he hung on the side of the straps to make certain they
were both buckled in.
Once they were firmly connected he swung up himself behind the young
woman. "Hang on tight." He said and then gave the command. Falzeth
trotted and then with wings spread leaped into the air.
Miyon gave a squeal of joy. "We're flying!"
D'arvn laughed, Fazeth crooned and then they flashed /between./
There was that moment of cold, and nothingness that she'd forgotten
from before. Miyon had clutched tight to her hand , but as the warm
sun of River Bluff hit them he relaxed. "Mama's down there?"
"Yes, she is," D'arvn said and they looped lower. "See the lady in
the green dress?"
Jayzine hadn't left the bowl since D'arvn had left to pick up her
children. No, she'd paced back an forth rehearsing what she'd say or
what she'd do. She couldn't stay still and she certainly couldn't go
back to work. So instead she had been watching the skies and when she
saw the blue returning, she waved both arms.
"She's waving Miyon," Jielta said. "Look!"
Miyon waved a hand to wave back, he didn't really remember his mother,
but Jielta had talked about her often enough. "We're really going down
there?" he asked, even as the blue seemed to be getting closer.
"We are," D'arvn said and they made a big loop around the bowl to come
in finally and trot closer to the Headwoman.
"Hello," Jayzine smiled up at her children. She hadn't been entirely
certain of how she'd react to her son but the sharp pain of his
existence had at least dulled enough with time that his smile could
only make her own smile bigger.
"Mama!" Jielta knew she was really too old to jump down and hug her
mother like she wanted to, besides, if she did that she'd probably
unseat her brother. Instead she settled for unfastening his straps and
handing him down. "I think someone's been waiting to meet you."
Jielta had changed, grown and Jayzine was proud of the woman she saw
before her. She reached up with a smile. "Good to see you sweetheart,"
she smiled up and then pulled Miyon down to her hip. "And how are you
my big boy?"
"Mama?" he asked tentatively, casting a glance back as he watched
Jielta come down to stand beside them.
"Yes baby," she said softly. "I'm your mama." She reached a arm out
to wrap around Jielta's shoulders and pull her close. "And I'm
Jielta's mama." Tears glistened in her eyes as she held her daughter.
"It's so good to see you," her voice broke with emotion on the last
words.
"And you too," Jielta managed a smile. She was sure they were doing
the right thing coming here. "I missed you."
"Well let me show you where we'll be staying," she smiled and set
Miyon down to take his hand. "This way," she led them into the main
entrance to the lower caverns.
D'arvn simply followed with the bags and a secret smile.
