"Ready to go?" J'kri asked as he came in from the ledge. He and R'axe
planned to escape the cold and snow for the day.
R'axe shouldered into his coat and tied his scarf around his neck.
Where they were going they would quickly be able to shed the heavy
clothing, but until they got out of Dragonsfall the winter gear was
necessary.
"All set," he tossed a towel over his shoulder.
J'kri caught a flash of the bracelet on R'axe's wrist and smiled,
remembering the day he'd given it to him.

}:My rider wants to talk to yours. Is he busy?:{ Rademerth asked Jayth.
Jayth, who was sunning with a green on his ledge, reached out for his
rider and then back to Rademerth. }: He's in the weyr, he says he is
not busy.:{
A short while later, J'kri knocked on the door and fiddled with the
braided yarn in his hand. He told himself not to be nervous. Things
would be fine.
"Since when do you knock?" R'axe asked with a grin as he opened the
door, pulled J'kri in, and gave the younger bluerider a warm kiss.
J'kri melted into it and forgot why he was there for a moment. When he
finally pulled away, he blinked. "Mmm... oh, um. I'm here to tell you
two important things."
"It must be important to interrupt that." R'axe pulled J'kri down with
him onto the couch. "Okay, I'm listening."
"The first thing is that I have a gift for you." J'kri opened his palm
to show a simple bracelet made of blue and white yarns. "It's nothing
fancy, but I made it to show how special you are to me."
R'axe smiled as he took the bracelet, "Thank you," he slipped it on
immediately, "and the second thing?"
It warmed J'kri to see how easily R'axe accepted the gift, but what he
had to say next made him nervous. The young bluerider looked down at
the floor. "Paetri and I are going to be weyrmates."
He blinked at J'kri, as if he hadn't heard him right, and then his
smile faded a little. Weyrmates? Weyrmates meant that you wanted
people to know you were loyal to a person, no matter what else you
might do. **And Paetri is that person for J'kri.... Of course she is,
stupid.**
R'axe noted the nervous look about J'kri and then glanced back down at
the bracelet on his wrist, "Is this a goodbye gift?"
"No!" J'kri gripped his hand. "No. It's a promise that you mean as
much to me as she does. And Paetri understands that. She likes you and
she wants you to know you're welcome in our bed."
"Oh," relief washed over R'axe as he smile began to return, "good, I'm
gald. I like Paetri, maybe almost as much as I like you." He grinned
teasingly. "What made you two decide to weyrmate?"
"She asked me." J'kri grinned, thrilled that R'axe wasn't upset. J'kri
had been pretty sure things would be okay, but there'd been a little
worm of doubt. "She wants me to come home to her every night."
"I think that will be good for both of you." R'axe said, remembering
how wounded Paetri had been over the J'kri and F'nix thing.
"Me too." J'kri hadn't planned to weyrmate so soon but he liked the
idea of living with Paetri. He reached over to run his finger along
the bracelet on R'axe's wrist. "If you were ever interested in living
with us I think we could make that work."
R'axe smiled at the sentiment, his eyes watching the way J'kri's
finger moved over the pattern of his bracelet, "I'd love to join you
guys sometimes, and I hope it's okay for me to drop in, but I still
like having my own place too."
"That's fine. I figured you'd say no." J'kri had wanted to make the
offer anyway.
"Thank you for including me in this, J'kri, it means a lot." R'axe had
never thought to finding one person, let alone two, that mattered to
him as much as J'kri and Paetri.
"_You_ mean a lot." J'kri poked him with a goofy grin. His chest
filled with love for R'axe and Paetri. "I hurt Paetri without meaning
to. I don't want to hurt either of you again."
"Love hurts sometimes, but fortunately for you," R'axe's eyes gleamed
teasingly, "you're worth it."
J'kri moved to straddle him, eyes growing dark with desire. "I love
you." He dug his fingers into R'axe's hair and pulled him into a kiss.
There was no further need for words as R'axe's hands slid up J'kri's
thighs and curled over his hips, returning the younger man's kiss with
a hunger he reserved for only J'kri.

"Hey, you listening?" R'axe said, waving a hand in front of J'kri's
face as he turned from Jayth, having tucked his towel beneath the
blue's riding straps.
J'kri blinked and then smiled. "Sorry. Lost in thought."
"Well, let's get to the beach," R'axe pulled J'kri to him, and nipped
his teeth along J'kri's neck, "I'm ready to get lost in _you_."
It still made J'kri warm all over when R'axe said things like that. He
made an appreciative sound before pulling away. "Race you!"
