"So, have you any ideas how you want to celebrate the Graduation of Lissath's first Clutch?" Yanley asked and poured them hot drinks. Graduation wasn't as big celebration as the Hatching Feast, and it was usually celebrated only among Weyr's own people. But it was still a special day.

"Well," Genna said thoughtfully as she pulled her cup of klah closer. "I've been thinking about it and I would love to give it a personal touch somehow. I mean, this was our first clutch and I feel so attached to these pairs." Not to mention one of those pairs was her best friend. "But I'm not really sure how to pull that off. How have other goldriders done it in the past? Do you have any tips for me?"

"Well, speeches and toasts are what is expected from event like this," Yanley said. She thought about it for a moment. "How about some sort of small gift, a memento? Like a cloak clasps or brooch? Something simple and not too expansive but that would mark them something special. Maybe set with stone of the colour of their dragon? Blue for blueriders, green for greenriders and I've seen some brownish gems too. I wonder if there is bronze stones or gems?"

"Oh of course!" Genna said in delight. "And yes, there is. Or at least there is a stone who can appear a bit golden or bronze in certain light, my father showed it to me once." Of course with her father a Master Smith jeweler, it wouldn't be to hard - or too expensive - for her to commission such a large set of jewelry. The only trouble would be convincing her father not to do it for free, but she'd negotiate on that adamantly. "A cloak clasp would be perfect, everyone needs one."

"So they do. You think your father could do it? Or maybe have his apprentices to mass produce them?" Yanley asked. She knew Genna's both parents.

"That's what I was thinking. It might be a nice project for the apprentices," Genna said with a nod. Not that her father wouldn't be all over them to make every detail perfect. She already felt a little sorry for them. "That really is a wonderful idea, Yanley, thank you. What wines do you have in stock for the celebration?"

"Well, the Hall delivered their tithes not long ago, so we have some very interesting new ones. They do keep testing and developing," Yanley said. "White or red, depends on what we choose for the menu."

"Oh yes, don't we know," Genna smiled. Amber Hills Hold was usually up to date on most of the Vintner Hall's experiments, being so close to it. "I was thinking some those light meats with spicey stuffing you had those done for Turnsend last year, do you remember those?" Genna had loved those and made an effort to remember them for when the occasion arose. Now was as good a time as any.

"Yes, I do remember. They were somewhat tricky to make and time consuming, but I'm sure the kitchen staff won't mind, it's a special occasion after all," Yanley replied. "If I remember correctly, there was this red wine that went well with it."

"That would be awesome," Genna smiled. "Though if they prove to be too tricky, I can pick something else. Are you sure it's alright?"

"Challenging them with something unusual is just good for our cooks. They do tend to get stuck doing the same old foods," Yanley dismissed her worries with a wave her hand. "Besides, they like you." Everyone liked Genna.

"That's so nice of you to say," Genna smiled. She did make an effort to be nice to everyone, from the drudges that cleaned her quarters to the Weyrleader of course, but trying to be nice doesn't always mean you are perceived as such. "And I can imagine always doing the same stuff can get boring. Well, the side dishes can be pretty regular if they're already putting a lot of time into the rolls. And then that red wine. Should be perfect!"

"Yes, we'll make it perfect," Yanley agreed.

"I'll talk with the Weyrharper about what he can put together for us in the music department. I'd like there to be some opportunity for dancing at least. I'm sure the graduates will need to relieve some tension." Genna remembered how nervous she had been about her own graduation. Even though it was all a done deal when it came to the ceremony, it was still a nerve-wrecking experience, waiting for your knots like that.

Yanley nodded. "Did we cover everything? Food, drinks, music?"

"I think we did," Genna said after a moment of contemplation. "If anything else comes to mind, I'll be sure to drop by. Is there anything else we need to discuss?"

"I don't think there is. And you know where my office is. Stop by at our weyr to see the children some day," Yanley replied.

"I will definitely do that," Genna agreed. "I haven't seen them in a while!" She finished her drink and got to her feet. "I'll see you later Yanley. Thank you for helping me out with this."
