Where Is She?

Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 5, day 15 of Turn 8

Yendon had searched everywhere she normally could be found. She wasn't
in her weyr and she wasn't in the gardens or by the lake. He'd
searched the Infirmary too, but no one had seen her there. No one had
seen her all day and it was beginning to worry him.

He and his wife had always made a special dinner for Lanniya for her
birthingday. Every Turn they'd had her favorite meal and her
grandmother had made a special cake topped with her favorite fruits.
Lanniya had always loved it and had never once missed. But she hadn't
shown this evening and she hadn't sent word that she was going to be
late or miss her dinner. It was so unlike her.

As he entered the dining cavern, his eyes searched for the reddish
hair of his granddaughter. Again, he came up with no sight of her.
Worry pinched his face until his eyes fell on the Weyrwoman, just
finishing her own meal. He hurried towards her, wrinkled hands
clutched at each other. He cleared his throat as he approached.
"Excuse me, Weyrwoman, if you have a moment?"

Rhosyn's head came up and it took her a moment to realize who she was
speaking to. "Aye, what can I do for you?" She put her glass down and wiped
her mouth with a linen napkin.

He wrung his hands again before he stated his concern. "We can't find
Lanniya. She was supposed to come for her birthingday dinner and she
didn't. She's never missed it. I've wandered all over the Weyr and no
one has seen her." His brows furrowed. "Forgive me for being a overly
protective old man, but is she off on some duty to the Weyr that she
just couldn't tell us about?"

Rhosyn's brow creased as she began to feel a headache coming on. She
tried not to look overly concerned, though. However when something like this
happened to involve Lanniya, red flags began popping up in her mind. "Not that
I know of, but I will be glad to check and see if I can find out where
she might be. Hopefully, she was just waylaid somewhere."

A quick mental nudge went out to Orlaith, who had been sleeping. **Sweet, can
you see where Anaeryth and her rider might be for me?**

There was a long pause. Then Orlaith came back with a confused tone in
her voice. }:I am unable to reach Anaeryth. I do not know where she is:{ The
queen's eyes began to sport tinges of yellow to show her worry.

Not wanting the egg heavy queen to get overly worked up, Rhosyn
quickly sought to comfort her even as her own worry began to bloom. **It's allright,
I'll just ask some of the other Weyrfolk if they've spoken to her recently.**

"I'm not sure exactly where she is just this moment. I'll just go and
check with a few folks in the other Weyrs to see if she might be there, allright?" Rhosyn stood up and hoped the older man didn't see the concerned look hidden in her eyes. "We both know Lanniya sometimes does things without letting folk know what she's doing. Maybe she just forgot."

"But she's never missed a birthingday meal. She loves it. Her
grandmother makes her a special pastry..." His voice trailed off and
he just nodded. "Thank you, Weyrwoman. I know you're busy and such
with the eggs. We do worry for her."

"Aye well, she is very important to everyone in this Weyr. I worry for her too
sometimes." Putting a hand on the older man's shoulder, Rhosyn hoped that
this problem had an easy solution. "It'll be a bit but I'll let you know for sure.
In the meantime, if she does turn up, Orlaith will be looking for her arrival."

"Thank you." He bobbed his head respectfully. "She's been with that
brownrider from Dragonsfall quite a bit lately. K'ale, I think his
name is. I don't know how to reach him to ask if maybe she's with
him." His brow furrowed. "And F'lin or D'ren aren't back from their
drills today, else I would have asked them. Her friend A'dryn didn't
see her today either. And if she goes to see Pierka at Dolphin Cove,
she lets us know so we can go with her. It's just not like her to take
off without telling anyone." His hands wound a little. "We even asked
a friend of ours to use her firelizard to get a message to her and the
firelizard came back with the note still attached."

**K'ale at Dragonsfall** That was an interesting bit of information.
"Thanks, that gives me a few other places to start." The firelizard bit
gave her pause since it sounded very similar to what Orlaith had said.
"I'd better get going though, to contact my list to see if any of them have
heard from her." This had been the evening meal so Rhosyn tried to figure
up the time differences in her head. "I'll check back with you tomorrow at
breakfast?"

Yendon nodded again, face pinched. "Yes, Weyrwoman. As soon as you
hear anything. No matter what the time."
