Things weren't exactly going according to Runnfreya's plans, in the baby making department. As much as she loved her husband, she was beginning to face the facts about his age. Even though she was still young enough to have several childbearing Turns left, her husband was not.

An idea had come to her while she was out working with the refugees that were still with them courtesy of the hurricane. Now she only needed her husband's blessing, but then, she'd never had too much trouble getting him to say 'yes' to her wants.

"Darling?" She knocked on his office door and pushed it open.

"Yes, sweetheart?" Raghad replied. He was glad of the interruption. The texts were getting blurry and he tended to forget to keep breaks. Wind Watcher gave a greeting chirp from his perch.

"Do you have a moment to talk?" she asked as she came in and seated herself in a chair across from her husband.

"I always have time for you and you know that," Raghad replied.

Runnfreya smiled, yes she knew, that was one of the reasons she had come to love Raghad in the first place. "We've been talking about another baby, you know how I want one, but realistically, it might not ever happen naturally for us again." It was one of the difficult parts of being married to someone that was considerably older. "But there are some refugee babies and children who lost parents. What if we adopted one?"

"It's a one way to do it," Raghad said, considering it carefully. "It's not exactly same as having child of your own. However, I know we can love the child anyway. Do you love Torianna any less because she isn't ours? And it would solve two problems at once. It is our duty to makes sure those orphans are taken care of."

"I love Torianna as much as the two I bore. I'm just afraid that you and I will not be able to have any more children of our own, but I know that this is something we can do." Runnfreya reasoned.

Raghad sighed, it wasn't pleasant to be reminded of his age. But he had been decade younger when Runha had been born. She spoke sense, as she always did. "I presume you're looking for a younger child, an infant if possible?"

Runnfreya's eyes seemed to light at the word "infant" and her head bobbed, "Yes, if possible."

"The Steward has the list of children left parentless, I can get it for you," Raghad said. Most orphans had kin who were willing to take them in, but there was always one or two whose relatives they couldn't find or who didn't want an extra mouth to feed. It was Raghad's job to find fosterparents for those. Adopting one for himself would save them from that effort. Of course, if Runnfreya did want a child who did have kin, well, there were ways... to convince them to give the child for adoption. Most people succumbed to greed.

The Citrus Bay Lady pushed up from her seat, sashayed her way around her husband's desk, and seated herself on his armrest so that she could lean over and kiss him. "Thank you, Raghad, this means a lot to me."

"I know it does. I want you to be happy," Raghad said. It was so easy to give her what she wanted when all her requests were sensible and well thought out.
