Grabbing a waterskin, Rhosyn got up and left her office and walked next door to where Lenala spent quite a bit of her time. It was interesting seeing the differences in the spaces, especially since Lenala had been occupying hers for longer. Walking inside, the Weyrwoman didn't say anything at first-she just sat down. She could wait until Lenala was finished with what she was doing, after all.
"Hi, Rhosyn," Lenala gave her absent minded hand-wave, busy writing down the Fall report before she forgot the details. "What's up?"
"Mm nothing, I just wanted to check in with you after yesterday to see how you felt about being back in Fall again." She was also keen to hear Lenala's observations about the wing since she had been gone for so long. Crossing her legs, she took a pull from the waterskin.
"It was a normal Fall," Lenala said, "nice, steady wind and no nasty surprises," which she was thankful for. The Fall itself had tired her more than she had anticipated. Her body was still recovering and it took awhile to get her strength back.
"Good. And Vilarth?" Sometimes it was easier to get complaints when one mentioned their dragon than it was from the rider. Rhosyn watched Lenala's reaction. She was still recovering, obviously, but she had managed. And she didn't look overly concerned so that was a good sign. "Getting used to K'lvin leading the Falls I guess."
"Vilarth is happy for not being grounded any longer," Lenala replied. First the egg, then Lenala's "sickness", for awhile Vilarth had been very bad tempered and cranky gold. Now she was returning to normal. The gold enjoyed leading more than her rider.
"That's a good thing. I know it probably feels more like normal. I like being grounded to a point because it lets you rest and catch up on things, but I miss the flying." She finished off the waterskin, glad that Lenala seemed to feel allright about threadfall. "I know we went over the changes with the wing so you'd be prepared there. What did you think?"
Lenala just shrugged. "I think the upper wings were more protective than usual," she said after a thoughtful pause. She wasn't sure what Rhosyn wanted her to say. Or maybe she just wasn't paying attention. Focusing was still difficult and her thoughts tended to wander off.
"Well sounds like you were able to get through Fall without worrying. I was hoping it wouldn't be too much of a physical strain. If you get tired, though, you better tell me." She didn't put much scolding into her remark, but the note of concern was there. She didn't need Lenala to overdo it and end up even worse off. She knew how that could end up.
"I won't let myself get too tired," Lenala assured her. "The healers are keeping a sharp eye on me," she continued. Sometimes she found their poking and snooping very annoying. But she had been bad off after the miscarriage, so they just wanted to make sure she did recover.
"Have they ever said when they think you should be back to normal physically? They gave me a sort of answer but said it depended on the progress you were making." Dragonriding was very physical. Rhosyn had made sure with the headwoman there were plenty of candidates to help Lenala for the time being, but she was curious.
"Probably before Orlaith Clutches, so you don't have anything to worry about," Lenala assured her. "She is due to Rise soon, isn't she?" She thought she had seen the warning signs. All goldriders kept an eye on each other's dragons.
Frowning at mention of that, Rhosyn moved her hands up and down her arms a few times before letting them rest in her lap. "Maybe. And Nikornath still can't fly." She didn't mention just what that meant or why she was trying not to dwell on it.
"That happens," Lenala was much less worried about the possible implications than Rhosyn seemed to be. She had seen Weyrleaders come and go. Especially during Tsaera's era.
"Who...do you think would be a good possibility?" Rhosyn had her thoughts and opinions. They wouldn't matter much in the end since it wasn't her choice, but she was interested in seeing what Lenala thought about it.
"I think any of the more experienced bronzeriders could do it," Lenala replied. "U'das is probably too old and he's getting blind. I can't see Orlaith picking him."
"No, though I do love U'das. And Augashyth usually has a hard time flying the full flight." She shook her head. "Ah well, we can only wait and see I suppose. No sense worrying about it. We'll make the best of things. We always do." Smiling at Lenala, Rhosyn stood up. "Time to go and get ready for waterball practice. See you later."
"See you," Lenala replied.
