Description: F'lin reveals a few things to Lanniya
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 5, day 2 of Turn 8
Notes: Mentioned: K'ale, Lenala
The sun was just starting to set as F'lin arrived at the beach in hopes of an
evening swim. He scanned the few bodies who had lingered now that the
sun wasn't so strong, and caught sight of a familiar copper-colored
head of hair near one end of the cove, nestled against a burnished
gold hide. The bronzerider was heading toward her before he'd made a
conscious decision to do so. **Goldriders,** he thought with amusement.
When he was close enough, he waved. "Hey, Lanniya! Care for company?"
Lanniya opened her eyes. She hadn't been napping, she'd been thinking
and enjoying soaking in the remaining sun. Since the incident with
Lenala, she'd not had much time to relax. Wearing a very modest
bathing suit (Faranth knew what her grandmother would say if she
_ever_ caught her in one of the two pieces that were so common here)
she half lifted up to see F'lin. She smiled and waved him over. "Sure.
If you're not busy."
"For you? Never." He sat in the sand next to her, squinting at the
waves. "And you might want a blanket... Your butt is looking is bit
pink."
Her brows rose and her grin immediately became a bit mischievous.
"F'lin....what are you doing looking at my butt?" Her feet waved in
the air as her eyes glinted. "I'm shocked. Really." She looked over
her shoulder and shrugged. "It's fine. Besides, I should get a tan
since I have to work outside, right?"
"I think your butt looks good pale. And let me tell you - trying to do
drills with a sun-burnt rear is not fun." He shuddered, but then his
smile got a bit of a glint. "I could help you avoid that..."
"You've been looking at my butt before?" Her brows rose and a little
blush made her cheeks rosy. "Okay...then how would you help me with
it?" Her brow arched.
He grinned. Something had changed in Lanniya, or maybe it was
himself-- before he wouldn't have held his hands up and compared their
size to Lanniya's perfectly shaped little bottom. But today he did. "I
could just hold my hands there to block the sun...?"
She giggled, ducking her head a bit before kicking her feet a bit
more. "That's just naughty, F'lin. Besides you wouldn't want to stand
there all day giving my butt shade, would you?" She tilted her head
and then her brows shot up as she realized he hadn't been talking
about just providing shade. "Oh. OH!" Her face flushed even as her
grin widened. "You want your hand prints tanned on my butt?"
"My handprints are the only thing that would improve the look of your
butt," he said, quite seriously.
Her cheeks flamed; she really didn't know how to respond to that. Her
mouth worked as she tried to formulate some response. Instead she gave
a little squeak. "You like my butt?"
Lanniya wore a blush well, F'lin thought. "I'd say it's in the top ten
best at the Weyr."
"Really?" Even being embarrassed, Lanniya was pleased at the
compliment and took a moment to look over her shoulder at her own
rump. It just looked like her regular butt to her. "Well...you never
said anything before."
"It's not something that you come right out and say. You have to wait
until the time is right. I mean, it's not exactly good manners if I'd
gone, 'welcome to the Weyr, Lanniya, your butt is beautiful'."
That made her burst out laughing and she finally sat up, crossing her
legs as she settled. "So. You've been looking at my butt. " She shook
her finger at him. "And here I thought no one at the Weyr liked me
that way."
He blinked at her, feigning innocence. "In what way?"
She blinked at him. "You know..." She gestured at him. "In _that_ way.
Like more than friends." Her mind drifted to K'ale and her expressions
as the memory came back to her wasn't hidden. He definitely liked her
in more than a friend way. It made her feel all...warm and fuzzy
inside and she liked it.
F'lin quirked an eyebrow, wondering where she'd suddenly gone. Girls
didn't usually zone out when he was flirting with them. "Eighth mark
for your thoughts?"
She squirmed a little and blushed. "I was thinking about something."
She tucked a strand of hair behind her ears. "I met a really nice
rider and he's not from here, but he likes me. He even..." She trailed
off and blushed a little further as she cleared her throat. "As more
than a friend I mean. I didn't think anyone here liked me at all."
F'lin wasn't expecting the shot of jealousy he felt. Lanniya hadn't
attracted a suitor here so he'd assumed... "Oh?" he said casually.
"You hadn't noticed how when you walk through the dining cavern, half
the men in the room turn their heads? Or how you're watched when
you're on the beach?"
She just blinked at him for a moment as she took in what he was
saying. "Huh? No they don't..." She stopped and glanced around slowly.
She noticed several men watching, mostly bronze and brown riders and
she looked back at F'lin. Her face revealed that she had had no idea
that she was being watched at all before now noticing. "Uh..." Her
voice became a bit of a squeak. "But no one said anything..."
"Maybe..." he leaned in close and dropped his voice. "Maybe they're
shy. Or maybe..." He flexed a bicep and gave her a cheeky grin to turn
the conversation light again. "Maybe they're all watching _me_!"
She leaned closer as he did, then when he flexed the bicep, she
couldn't help but give a snickering little laugh. "Well, there are
blueriders over there." She waggled her brows at him.
"Blues, greens, browns and bronzes... I'm pretty sure _all_ the
dragonriders are watching." He flexed his bicep again and gave Lanniya
a cheesy leer. "Including the goldriders."
That brought on another tide of snickers as she shook her head. Then,
playfully, she flipped her hair over her shoulders. "I think my butt
looks better."
"And I'm pretty sure that you don't watch your own butt. Otherwise it
wouldn't be pink."
Distracted, Lanniya tried to look over her shoulder. "Is it really
turning pink? I didn't think you were serious....Oh no...I wanted to tan!"
"Here." Gallantly F'lin stripped off his shirt and draped it across
Lanniya's behind. "Find some lotion tonight, and it'll probably be
tanned by the morning." And she would have some killer tan lines to go
with the tan...
She sighed. "I've never been able to tan." She glanced at him and
couldn't help but flick her gaze over him. He did look really nice
without the shirt, she had to admit. "Thanks."
He shrugged. The sun was nearing the horizon and the light edging from
clear sunshine into gold. "I came down for a swim, which I should
probably do before I lose the light entirely. Want to join me, or are
you happy to relax on the beach for a bit?"
She rose, handing him back his shirt. "I'll go ahead and join you. I
need to practice anyway."
"Excellent." He dropped the shirt and leaped to his feet, abandoning
dignity along with it. "Last one into the water's a rotten redfruit!"
Laughing, Lanniya followed him into the water.
