Description: Nalarith rises for the first time, much to A'dryn's dismay.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 4, day 3 of Turn 8
Notes: Mentioned: Lanniya
For the last few days A'dryn had felt restless, and worse than that .
. . flirty. He'd talked to men, people he barely knew or didn't even
know at all. Laughed at their jokes. Even teased them. Thankfully he'd
been able to stop himself before anything physical happened.
**What's wrong with me?**
A'dryn got his answer when Nalarith bugled a challenge to the males.
}:Chase me, handsome ones!:{
**Oh, no.** Sick worry and lust both washed over him and A'dryn
clutched at his stomach. It was finally here. **I can't hurt her. I
can't hold her back.** What happened to him didn't matter.
}:I will chase Nalarith,:{ Seneth informed F'lin.
His rider was in the Dining Cavern, and he resignedly put aside the plate he
had filled with an apologetic smile to the nearest drudge. His grumbling
belly would have to wait. **Nalarith... who is that again?**
}:She is young,:{ came the reply, followed by a quick image of the pretty
young green dragon.
**One from the last Clutch,** F'lin realized. One of Lanniya's
classmates, recently graduated to the Wings. He
hesitated a little as he headed down to the flight rooms, wondering what she
would think of Seneth's interest, before continuing on his way.
**Does it have to be one of our weyrlings?** A'kades always thought when
Volaith bugled his interest. He never liked chasing in first flights of the
kids he'd trained, since they reminded him too much of his own kids.
Unfortunately Volaith was very aware of what the greens were like, since he
spent time with them, and thus he became very drawn to them.
A'dryn had been so worried about this flight. He wasn't into men, but he was
gentler with male greenriders than some other bronze and brownriders. If
Volaith caught Nalarith, it would be awkward for both him and A'dryn, but at
least he knew enough to be careful of the boy.
Volaith felt no such doubts. }:I will catch!:{
**Seriously, Zack, do you have to chase them all?** U'das asked when his
bronze declared his intention to Chase. **And who is it this time?**
}: Lovely Nalarith, :{ Zack replied.
**Oh, dear, that means A'dryn,** U'das was concerned. He worked with the
weyrlings so he knew about his troubles.
Still there was no saying no to Zackariath and it was too late to pull the
bronze out of the chase.
}: She will be mine! :{ Gormth blustered. The young blue did his best to
show off his sky-blue hide, among the bronzes and more experienced dragons.
Im're sighed and followed his lead. Perhaps this Flight would help him get
his mind off from the broke up.
It wasn't just them that heard Nalarith's call. Carloith had also heard it
and the brown had made up his mind that he could do with a nice young green
prize as well. Besides, it had been a few days since he'd chased so why not?
Moving to join the others in preparation for the chase, his feelings were
broadcast to his rider who had been putting away some of his clean clothes.
X'pre was not having the best day and now this. Straightening up, the young
brownrider frowned and rubbed his neck. **Great** Still, he made his way
down to the mating cots like everyone else.
When Falzeth announced he was chasing D'arvn trotted down to the
flight rooms and smiled when he saw the young greenrider. He winked at
Adryn when he caught his eye and nodded as if to say 'everything will
be alright.'
**Seriously?** Y'gel mentally snorted at Aughashyth. He did chase
after all but rarely did he chase the very young ones.
}:She's beautiful and I will have her.:{
**Why are there so many bronzes?** A'dryn looked helplessly at the
growing circle of men as Nalarith admired her suitors. He spotted
D'arvn and felt a spark of hope. **Oh please, please let him win.**
The bluerider would be kind to him.
}:So many handsome males,:{ Nalarith stretched her wings, flicked her
tail. Energy coiled inside her, hot need urging her to fly. }:But only
one can mate me.:{ With a leap she took to the skies.
"Oh!" A'dryn's mind pulled toward his dragon, pulled away from the
ground, and then he was flying on swift wings.
Gormth launched himself to the air, hot on the heels of the beautiful green.
The young blue crooned his admiration.
Seneth leapt from his perch to follow Nalarith. }:You are beautiful and
fast!:{ he called.
On the ground, F'lin stumbled into the flight rooms late, his mind already
half-lost to Seneth's. He managed a quick smile in A'dryn's direction
before joining the group of riders whose dragons were in hot pursuit of the
young green.
He wasn't as fast as the blues were but he wasn't as slow as the bronzes
either. Carloith had the best of both worlds. He had more size the blues and
more speed than the bronzes. He stayed clear of the others, using the
updrafts to rise higher. Her youth might betray her, but he could still
teach her what sweet victory was like in the end.
His rider didn't look at all happy. It didn't matter, though. Crossing his
arms over his chest it wouldn't be too much longer until X'pre forgot his
own name. All he would know was the smell of the green he was driving
towards-pushing towards.
Volaith leapt from the rim in hot pursuit of the green. He'd seen her
grow into her size and strength, and now she was resplendent and
shining, mature in full. He would track her. His knowledge of her
flight patterns would help. }:I will teach you pleasure,:{ he
promised.
Aughashyth kept apart from the pack as was his normal habit with young
greens. They were sometimes known to make mistakes and he would be
there when she did.
Falzeth crooned. }:I will fly you well beautiful Nalarith.:{ He still
remembered when his had flown hers and they'd both been happy with the
result, though greens didn't really retain that memory for long.
Instinct drove Nalarith to push higher and faster. She had never flown
like this, full of both freedom and a wild need. Glancing back, she
admired her suitors. So many bronzes wanting her attention was
flattering, and there were handsome browns and blues as well.
Suddenly, she doubled back, diving through the chasers. A bronze
reached for her, barely missing, and she trilled playfully as she
darted up, leaving the males in confusion.
Losing precious time, Carloith wrenched himself up to respond to the green's
tactics. He was still a relatively young dragon which helped him to respond more
quickly. Mentally berating himself, he didn't give up, but rather put
more strength into his pursuit once he was straightened out.
Zack was biding his time, a wily old bronze. The way she flew, she
would tire soon and he would still have all his strength to catch him.
Gormth wasn't that experienced. The blue was pushing himself to stay
at the heels of the beautiful green. He wasn't as agile as she was and
was using lot of strength just to stay close by.
Falzeth veered and climbed to follow the fleet young green eager to be
her first. He flared his sky blue wings knowing it helped to blend him
into the sky and perhaps she'd swerve right into his path. Besides he
was handsome and knew it.
Nalarith veered and Seneth made a hasty correction. Greens were fast
and nimble - moreso than he. Even so, he enjoyed the challenge of
following her wings.
Volaith's claws had snatched at her and come close, but the bronze was
undeterred. The skillful avoidance made him want the green more.
}:Very clever!:{
Delighting in her power, Nalarith spiraled and swooped. A fast blue
came near and she hesitated just a bit. Should she let him claim her?
Ah, but Volaith was so very handsome. The bronze had taught her so
much and he could teach her in this as well. She evaded the blue and
started to turn. But what about that one? Or him?
Nalarith couldn't choose. She climbed again until she felt the first
hints of fatigue. }:Who will catch me?:{ The green teased them,
turning one way, then another. As she made another quick movement,
strong talons grasped her. For a moment she struggled, not ready to
end the game, but the male wrapped tight around her and Nalarith
surrendered to pleasure.
Feeling her give up the fight, Carloith eagerly took his pleasure. Twining
with the young green, the brown bugled his triumph as they fell before he
stopped their descent and pulled them to the ground.
In the mating cots, his rider came forward to put his hands possessively on A'dryn, mimicking his dragon's movements. X'pre wasn't himself then, he was Carloith's rider. Growling, he claimed the greenrider's lips and began his own version of what their dragons were doing, though surely he would regret it later.
Volaith made a displeased noise and dropped free of the chase. He
would take the long way to the weyr to cool off his ardor. On the
ground, his rider turned away
from the pack, intent on seeking comfort.
Y'gel turned from the group and brushed off the hands of waiting moths to go seek out his weyrmate. She would be waiting for him as always.
A'dryn knew only need, completely lost to himself. He kissed the
brownrider back urgently, desperate for release.
