K'mai

K'mai

Growling, she swiped her tail from side to side as she eyed her rider.
D'lorn was watching Villith carefully. The greenrider was standing in
the Bowl in front of the green dragon who looked ready to pounce on
him. She had been incredibly difficult all day and he'd given up
trying to do lessons he needed her for, swapping drills for lectures
instead. Now, she was refusing to go eat even though he felt the
hunger in her belly.

}:I am not going to fill my gullet with herdbeast that will make me heavy:{
**But my stomach feels empty because yours is. Don't worry, you won't
gain any weight. You'll burn it off flying, my beauty, as always**
}:I will fly. I will burn. I will do it now, mine:{

And then D'lorn began to feel a different hunger. **Should have
known** he thought to himself as he watched her look around the Weyr,
searching for those that would try to have her. She was a beautiful
prize. Would they be worthy? }:Come if you dare:{

}:Villith rises. I will chase!:{ Sebeth announced to his rider.

Ah, the Weyrlingmaster Third. K'mai wouldn't mind winning that one. He
hurried outside to green in question looking very fierce.

}:I will chase Villith!:{ Seneth told his rider.

Back in his office, F'lin sighed and put down his pen. There was
hidework to do... **Can't we miss this one?** Besides, Villith was
D'lorn's, and while he liked the Weyrlingmaster Third he wasn't quite
as motivated to wake up with the man in his arms.

}:No! I will catch Villith,:{ Seneth said confidently.

His rider could feel the bronze's desire and intention radiating
through their link. Villith had caught his fancy and he would not
be easy to dissuade. The temporary Wingsecond sighed again,
set down his pen, and headed to the flight rooms. **Let's do this, then.**

A'kades felt the sudden burn of Volaith's interest rush through him.
**Oh no. Do we have to?** he thought to his bronze when he realized
who it was. The weyrlings needed someone to watch them if both the
Second and Third were in the flight...

But Volaith would not be dissuaded. }:I will chase and catch. She
knows and likes me!:{ Surely the fact they worked together would
persuade the green.

Gormth rumbled. }: She will be mine! :{ the young blue declared.

**What's gotten into you, you're chasing everyone?** Im're wondered.
He jogged to join his lifemate.

Villith could be a showy green. She was also a very smart one despite
her immense vanity. Rocking back on her haunches, she stretched her
wings, showing off her well kept hide and muscles. Her body was built for
speed and acrobatics. She was a threadfighting machine, but a lady nonetheless.
Fierce as usual, she bugled loudly before turning once more to look at
the walls of the Weyr, eyes whirling that lusty purple color. Before anyone
could say anything, though, she was gone like a flash-speeding away
before they realized what she had done.

Gormth was startled by her sudden launch but got his wits back
together and jumped after her. His sky-blue wings shone when sun hit
them. He wasn't bad looking blue.

Volaith knew this green well, since their riders worked together and
he hoped the experience would help him. She had seen him teach
weyrlings and knew he was strong and solid. He knew she was wily and
fast. All of that went through his mind as he pursued the lovely green.

}:Together we will soar long and pleasingly,:{ he promised.

Sebeth rumbled his appreciation as he shot after her. Villith was both
lovely and experienced and he hoped for a lively chase.

If they were hoping for a chase, they were in for a serious game of tag.
Only Villith didn't want to be tagged. The dragon took one look at those
following her and then she dropped her speed, but instead dipped down
around the trees of the jungle, blending in as she flew across the trees of
the canopy.

Gormth managed to stay on her wake, although he had to work for it.
Flying so low made the young blue nervous. He was sure he felt the
leaves brush against his belly.

Seneth didn't even try. His big wings would be tangled in treetops, so
he followed her path from a higher altitude. Villith would have to
move skyward at some point, and he would be ready when she did.

Diving to follow, Sebeth pulled up a bit short, not getting too close
to the trees. Villith was only teasing them, or testing them, and he
needed to be ready for her next trick.

There was a break in the treeline ahead. It was a river. When it came,
the wily green turned a quick right, following the river's trail through the trees
headed in the other direction. It was winding and she could dip and fly
low or raise up if she wanted. Soon enough, she would have to start climbing
though.

Gormth stubbornly stayed in her tail wake. He just wasn't experienced
enough to try to predict her next move. When it came to strength and
agility, he represented the average blue. His sky blue hide blended to
the sky's, his only hope was that she wouldn't notice him and he get
to surprise her. It was very unlikely her to choose such young one for
a partner.

Volaith kept high and watching carefully. Villith was smart and canny.
She was elegant in the air in the way of greens, the experienced ones.
She'd have to come up to be caught. He would have her then. At a sign
of change from her, he would pounce.

Sebeth kept pace, catching a few thermals to rise higher. }:Come up
here so we can fall far!:{

With one eye on Villith and the other on the male dragons also pursuing
the green, Seneth moved himself into a position he hoped would foul the
other dragons' rise when Villith decided to go skyward. Let them dodge his
wide wings while he pursued the green.

Despite all the turns of experience behind her, Villith was nothing if not
seriously unpredictable. And this flight was to be nothing different. Suddenly,
she started shooting straight up with a last burst of energy. She wouldn't
be able to last much longer. When it looked as if she might let herself go,
she twisted away from Seneth. }:Gormth! Catch your falling star!:{

Her call fired up the young blue and gave him extra strength to catch her.
}: My beauty!:{ he cried jubilantly when he wrapped his neck and tail with hers.
