F'nix

F'nix

For some, it was difficult to choose. They'd stand on the sands and look around them, assessing each candidate, one after the other. They'd decide on one, then on another. Then they'd change back.

Nisith wasn't like the others. He knew his. The moment he nosed his shell aside, he headed for his.

}:Mine, mine, mine!:{ he declared.

If Felnix had any doubt about the dragonet's colour, he certainly didn't doubt his enthusiasm.

"Hey."

}:I prefer meat.:{ Nisith said. }:I think. Feed me F'nix!:{

F'nix chuckled. He was too busy leading his blue off the sand to see what anyone else impressed. He'd done it at last! And the best, most handsome blue dragon on the face of Pern.

Elona watched as person after person was chosen by the beautiful, glistening dragonets. For a moment, she could have sworn a green was heading toward her, but she chose a boy instead.

The moment she saw the last bronze show his hide she knew it was all over. She had failed again. Blinking because she knew it wouldn't look good to cry on the sands, she made her way off, with the other candidates.

She glanced over her shoulder and saw Aluka with a bronze. She managed a small smile. She was disappointed, but happy for him. That was all she could hope for right now.
