Can I Come Back Someday?

Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 10, day 9 of Turn 3

Mosler stood outside the door to Renner's room, hand on the door. It had been almost a sevenday since Renner's suicide attempt and Mosler was still uncomfortable with seeing him. Seeing anyone sick or injured unsettled him, and the fact that Renner had injured himself on purpose was even worse. Still, as Hallmaster, he needed to have this discussion with Renner, so he steeled himself to the encounter and opened the door after a brief knock. Renner looked up at Mosler's face which betrayed his unease despite his attempt at hiding it. **Yeah, I wouldn't want to be visiting me either...**

"Renner," Mosler said with a nod as he shut the door behind him. "Are you up for a talk?" "Of course, Hallmaster," Renner nodded.

He took a seat in a chair by the bed and looked over at the journeyman.
"I've talked with the healers, they say you're almost ready to be released." "Yes, I know." The journeyman looked away. Soon he would have to leave the Hall. Who knew when, or even _if_ he would be coming back.

Mosler pursed his lips, he just wasn't very good in these sorts of situations, he never knew what to say. "They informed me that you agreeded to travel to a small Mindhealers Hall where you can rest for a while?" He wanted to make sure it was Renner's decision, he wouldn't force the journeyman out of the Hall.

Renner nodded. "Yes. They said it would be best for me."

"Good, good." he said, still looking at the floor. He looked up then, struck by news that would hopefully leave the man with something to look forward to. "A ah... dragonrider has agreed to transport you to the hall when everything is ready, so you don't have to worry about a long travel at least."

"Can he drop me /between/ along the way?" Renner said with a snort. "Sorry," he said apologetically, "I suppose I shouldn't be joking like that right now."

"No, you shouldn't." Mosler agreed with a frown, not sure if it even _was_ a joke. "I'm sorry, sir," the journeyman said with contrite look on his face. After all, Mosler was going to have to eventually decide if he would welcome Renner back to his Hall someday...

Mosler stood, after giving a brief nod of acceptance. "I've got to be going, I just wanted to check and see how you were doing. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask." "Sir?" Renner asked tentatively. "If this works... if the healers... if they can fix me... Can I come back here someday?"

Mosler surpressed the smile that pulled at the corners of his mouth. He had been afraid Renner might not want to come back, that the Hall itself could have been the cause of his attempt. "Of course you can. In fact, the dolphins insist upon it. They say that this is your home." Renner smiled a little and nodded. "Always trust the dolphins."

"Which reminds me," Mosler said as he walked towards the door, "Calla told me that before you leave you must go and swim with her. I think she wants to double check and make sure the _human_ healers took good care of you." The journeyman held up his two heavily bandaged arms. "Give Calla my apologies. I won't be swimming for a while." **Perhaps a long while...**

Mosler's mouth fell into a slightly pittying frown, "Well, maybe just go and tell her goodbye then if you feel up to it." He didn't wait for a response, not wanting to pressure the man into doing something he didn't want to do. "Don't forget what I said, if you need anything, you just have to ask."
