Y'gel

Y'gel

V'kellyn entered the dragon infirmary and looked around, nodding to
some journeyman, but smiling when he saw the familiar face of the
Weyrdragonhealer. Y'gel had Impressed several turns before him and
V'kellyn remembered looking up both metaphorically and actually to the
large bronzerider. It was good to return and see him still helping
the dragons as he had been for turns. He waited patiently until Y'gel
had finished his conversation before approaching.

"This might be the exact spot you were in the last time I saw you,"
V'kellyn commented affably. "I hope you do get out for some fun at
some point in time!"

"V'kellyn," Y'gel's grin was from ear to ear."Good to see you back!"

"Good to _be_ back! I'm supposed to give you this," he handed over
the documents. "Xenderayth is in fine health as you'll read, but it's
all part of the transfer process, you know."

"Of Course," he nodded and took the documents. He tilted his head
toward his office and began walking toward the door. Then he turned
and walked backward for a moment "A'shel, make sure Petriath has water
and watch him drink it. His color is a bit off."

"So what prompted your return?" he asked as they walked into his office.

"Time to move back closer to family," he answered. "V'cam's
accident," he added quietly, knowing the healer would have treated his
nephew's young brown after the Threadscore, "was enough to shake us
all up and rethink things. Besides, my mother wanted to get to know
her granddaughter better," he said with a lighter tone.

"They're going to be fine," Y'gel nodded in understanding. He knew
he'd do the same should he ever hear of an injury to his daughter.
He'd even thought about offering to have Briata foster his little
grandson but he didn't know how well that would go over with Rhosyn.
"Barokth is well on the mend."

"That's what I hear, and I knew he was in good hands as is V'cam of
course. Still, V'cam is V'nek's only son and I feel as if I should
have been here for more of his life. Of course life takes us all on
different and the move was not bad for me. I do have Velika and I'd
not exchange her for anything. It's still good to be back home,
though. Vista Point was never quite home to me."

"Sadly I won't be able to be around for Gelira, She went to
Dragonsfall and impressed there." Y'gel shrugged. It was the way
riders moved around, things happened.

"Well, you never know, she might come back at some point. I did.
Besides, the benefit of being a dragonrider is that we can see those
we aren't able to live close to. I hear that you're weyrmated and
have a new young son."

"True," Y'gel nodded. "Briata is very special and you'll know it soon
enough. Besides being my weyrmate and the mother of my son. She
foster's the Weyrwoman's daughter and can hear all dragons!"

"Really? But she's not a rider," he noted with some surprise. "That's
curious. And she foster's Rhosyn's child? So you're a foster father
as well. That must make life interesting with two little ones about."

"No," he smiled. "She didn't want to Stand." he shrugged. "I can't
tell you how much grief she took for that decision. But she's strong."
Then he had a brilliant thought. "You should come to dinner in my weyr
and meet her and the kids."

"I'd like that very much. You're sure that won't put too much strain
on your weyrmate, what with having two little ones to tend to?"

"I'm sure she'll be fine," Y'gel smiled. "I told you she was amazing right?"

"I think you did," V'kellyn's dark eyes sparkled, pleased to see the
man so happy. "I'll look forward to meeting her."
