Location: Dragonsfall Weyr

"Ow!" J'klin cried as Arilanna tended to the large gash on his forehead. He had consumed maybe a bit too much to drink and had tumbled down the stairs on his way back to his weyr. He had tried to stifle the bleeding with a towel, but it had soaked it near through so he had headed down to the infirmary to get it looked at. When he saw that Arilanna was on duty, he had almost turned back to his weyr. He had been avoiding her the last few months, ever since she had betrayed him to U'kaiah, and J'klin had seen no reason to stop the avoiding just because he was bleeding to death! Once Arilanna had seen him in the doorway, with the now soaked towel, she had ushered him in acting like nothing had gone on bad between them. "Hold still, it doesn't hurt that bad, I've got numbweed on it and if you move you'll have a crooked scar from my stitches." Arilanna said evenly as she focused on the needle and torn flesh in front of her. When she first saw J'klin she had been momentarily frozen, she had seen glimpses of him in the Weyrbowl and once in the dining cavern, but she had never expected him to come to her on purpose. Not after the huge fight they had over her friendship with U'kaiah. She still didn't know what J'klin had against the bronzerider, or what she had done to 'betray' him, but he had said that he couldn't trust her and she couldn't forgive him for that so their long friendship had come to an end. "Sorry" he grumbled. He was sitting on a chair with Arilanna right in front of him. He hadn't realized how much he had missed her until he had seen the concerned look in her eyes and the small smile of reassurance she had given him. She was _so_ close, he ached to just take her in his arms and never let go. Instead he tried to push down those feelings and closed his eyes to block her out, but when he did, he started to notice other things about her like the sweet herbal scent she wore and the gentle touch of her fingers on his face as she examined him. "It's okay, I'm almost finished." She managed to say. **Why did I have to trade shifts today?** He was too close to her, touching him brought back too many memories. She felt her eyes start to moisten and hurried to complete the stitching. "There, I just need to go and get a bandage." He reached out and caught her hand as she turned away. He didn't know why he had done it, he hadn't thought about it, he shouldn't have; but she didn't pull away. She just stood there, her back to him, not moving. "I miss you, Ari." It was just above a whisper, had the words really come out of his mouth or had he just thought them? How would she react, would she laugh at him, call him a fool? He had wanted to tell her for so long, but his pride had gotten in the way. Arilanna turned then, the tears running silently down her cheeks. She searched his face for any sign he was making a cruel joke, but only saw pain and loneliness in his eyes. "I miss you too." came her answering whisper. J'klin let out the breath he hadn't known he had been holding and grabbed her other hand, lacing his fingers into hers. "I've been such a sharding fool, Ari. Can you ever forgive me? I've been miserable without you these last few months."

"I..." she was overwhelmed, she hadn't been expecting any of this. She had all but written him off and moved on with her life. But, it was J'klin looking at her, asking her such a simple yet so complex question, and she couldn't help but let her heart start to melt. "Yes..." she started to stammer out, "you have been such a sharding fool. But yes... I think I can forgive you."

He let out a whoop of joy and swooped her up in his arms before she could react, spinning her around the small room. "Let's just forget the last few months ever happened okay?" he said excitedly, "No fighting, no U'kaiah, nothing! It never happened, okay?" He needed them to be like the way they had been. His life had fallen apart, and he just wanted to forget all the boozing and bed hopping he had done. None of it mattered anymore, he just wanted to be with his Ari again.

She laughed at his exuberance as she gripped his arms for support. She knew it wasn't that easy, neither of them could really forget what had happened between them, but maybe for the next few minutes at least they could pretend. "Okay, okay," she replied, a wide smile spread across her face, "But you need to put me down, I still have to bandage up all those stitches." "Yes, ma'am!" he replied gleefully as he placed her gently on her feet and let her go. He knew better than to argue with a healer!
