Description: Ilyssia talks to Gelira as they prepare to bathe their dragons.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 12, day 1 of Turn 7
As Gwynnyth entered into the weyrlake, Ilyssia marveled at the size of
her lifemate who must be well over five weavers lengths now. She was
currently one of the larger greens from her clutch, though not the
largest by any stretch. Another green entered and Ilyssia smiled,
realizing that Gwynnyth still had a ways to go. She turned her smile
upon the rider and offered a greeting, "Hi, Gelira."
Charayoth, who was by now almost full grown, quickly shadowed the
smaller, younger green. Though not the largest of greens, Charayoth
was considered to be average in size, if not slightly larger than some
average greens.
"Hello Ilyssia," Gelira greeted her fellow weyrling. "Gwynnyth looks
to be in good spirits today," Gelira remarked with a nod towards the
green whom Charayoth had approached for a little company.
"She enjoys the water," Ilyssia agreed. "I'm excited for the weather
to warm up enough for us to try out the lake on the plateau."
}:Isn't it lovely the way the water slides off our hides?:{ Gwynnyth
asked the bigger dragon.
"Oh I agree. I hear it's lovely. It was the heart of winter when
Charayoth was hatched, so we haven't had a chance to explore the lake
either. Well that and I doubt anyone would have allowed _me_ to take
her there. But now, at least we'll really be able to enjoy it."
}:It is a most wonderful feeling!:{ Charayoth replied ducking her head
under the water and bursting forth again with a spray towards the
younger green.
Quite pleased by Charayoth's perceived playfulness, Gwynnyth moved her
wings in the water to make waves, one of her favorite bath time
activities.
"I have been meaning to talk to you. I wanted to ask you about dragon healing."
Gelira, who'd been watching the dragons, gave a slight chuckle before
turning back to Ilyssia.
"Dragon healing? Sure. What would you like to know? Are you
considering studying it?" Gelira asked, looking towards the younger
girl. She knew Illyssia was not weyrbred and wouldn't have had any
experience with dragon healing prior to coming to the weyr.
Charayoth was enjoying the waves. She started ducking her head into
each wave, then emerging with a spray of water. She soon was making
her own waves to add to the ones Gwynnyth made.
It was then Gwynnyth's turn to dive under the Charayoth's even bigger
waves and she reveled in the playtime.
"Yes, I am actually. I'll be too young to join the wings when I
graduate and I kind of thought I would like to use that time to study
dragonhealing. Is it true your father is a the Weyr Dragonhealer at
River Bluff Weyr?"
Gelira smiled. She _loved_ dragonhealing. In fact Impressing Charayoth
meant she could continue in her own studies as a Dragonhealer.
"Yes, he is the Weyr Dragonhealer. I've spent my whole life growing up
around Dragonhealing. It's a wonderful field to study," she thought of
all the things she would be able to do herself with Charayoth by her
side.
"Have you considered speaking to W'ser? I'm sure he can set you up
with some special classes to get you started when we're not busy with
all the _other_ stuff," Gelira indicated the dragons in the water with
a happy smile.
Ilyssia returned the older girl's smile which only widened when she
followed Gelira's gaze and saw the dragons playing. "I didn't know if
that would be appropriate for a weyrling or not. I wanted to talk to
you first. The few dragonhealing classes we had really captured my
interest, and I'd like to be doing something particularly worthwhile
when everyone else graduates to the fighting wings. I just wasn't
really sure how apprenticeship worked."
"It's definitely appropriate, though you might not get _much_ time to
do anything until closer to graduation. You should definitely talk to
W'ser. Set things up with him. Then whenever we have time to work on
our crafts you could go and start some of your classes. You'll move
through them at your own pace, though you do have a certain amount of
experience to move from junior to senior apprentice and then up to
journeyman. The one thing about dragonhealing is that you have to have
a _dragon_ to move to journeyman, so I've been a bit stuck myself. Now
that I've Impressed, I plan to continue my studies further," Gelira
hoped her explanation made sense.
"Okay, thanks, I'll talk to W'ser," Ilyssia gave a definitive nod,
pleased to have a plan of action. She should probably talk to Z'then
and see if he wanted to go talk to W'ser with her. Looking toward the
two greens, Ilyssia grinned, "I suppose I should get to scrubbing. I
can't believe that Gwynnyth will soon be as big as Charayoth."
"They grow fast, that's for sure," Gelira responded. **So do little
babies,** she added silently, thinking of all the changes Gelzan had
gone through as well. "I think I'll join you for that scrub."
