Emerald Falls Weather, month 4

I noticed that Emerald Falls Hold has hurricane scheduled for month four. Is this some sort of mistake? Based on what I know of hurricanes, they are born at the sea and ravage only coastal regions. When it hits the land, it eventually dies down to a storm.

Last time I looked map, Emerald Falls hold was located deep inland, middle of continent and probably too far off from equator too. Their weather is more like Kansas or eastern/central Europe. (Although we aren't in Kansas, Toto). So, they could have tornado instead.

That probably happened because I didn't think about the fact EFH was inland when reviewing the weather generation. Our site tries hard to do good weather but sometimes us timeliners miss something :D (I've spotted a couple instances of snow happening during summer months too...)

If you'd like a tornado to hit the region that could sure be interesting!

Actually, I requested that Green Valley get at least a week of torrential rain for a flood plot, so could we replace the hurricane with that? :)

I could add rain events to the calendar if dates are provided.

Avery is correct. There is a weather generator that uses a random generation based on parameters we set up. This is different for each 'place' on Pern. I will go back and make sure that Emerald Falls' climate model has zero chance of a hurricane being so far inland. There could of course, be thunderstorms. The model does not include tornadoes but I could look into the code to see if it would be easy to add.

Interesting, Emerald falls already has 0 chance of a Hurricane. Sooooo. Here's is what probably happened.
1. Weather is generated top down... so you generate the weather/threadfall at the Weyr level and all the sublocations take that model.
2. Then we're supposed to go back and RE-generate weather for locations that are too far away from the Weyr to have exactly the same weather. So the main holds all have their own climate models. (Wonderful programming by Estelle!!!)

Looks like Emerald falls is reflecting Dolphin Cove's weather... I'll regenerate Emerald falls today with a week of storms in the middle that will also effect the surrounding minor holds.  Does that work for you all??

Beautiful! Thanks ladies for your hard work!

Emerald falls (and beholden areas like HH and GVh) have been regenerated with the EFH climate model through the end of Turn 8

Thank you! You do wonderful job. I wouldn't have minded a tornado, could be fun to write.

Maybe we could have one of those in M5 or 6? :)
