What do ya'll have planned for the Holidays?

I plan to relax and clean my house. I also have to finish some reports for work somewhere in there as I have a meeting on the student when we get back to school.  I'm staying home this year, so it will be just me and my husband. He was nice enough to let me go with my family to Ohio last year, so I thought I would be nice and stay here with him this year. He always has to work before and after Christmas day so he didn't get to go last year.

I have almost all of my shopping done just a few more items to find. Got a good deal on some of the presents, though so that helps.

I'm going to take things very easy. We have an extra day this year becasue Boxing Day falls on a Saturday, so the Monday after Xmas is a Bank holiday too. I was talkiung about going away to see friends for New Year's Eve, but I don't know if I will a) have my car back or b) if my back will cope with a longish drive. I had a minor accident nearly two weeks ago, and while my car had cosmetic damage, I ended up with whiplash....

For Christmas I'm gonna be at work at 8:30, take a long lunch with friends, and hopefully leave a couple hours early.  And that night there MIGHT be a party.  I also might have a little get together the night before Christmas, but not 100% sure...

For New Year I might either be entertaining friends, or I might go to the temple where my student's husband is the main priest and celebrate New Year traditional Japanese style...  Not sure which yet...

My mother arrived today.  We'll probably have a Swedishish meal for Christmas eve and turkey and ham for Christmas Day.

We have snow too, about a feet last night.

We spent the christmas as usual:
At the morning we drive to my father's and eat rice-porrige there. (And swap presents), then we go for my mother's and have christmas lunch (and more presents). Then I go to lit a candle to my grandparents grave. And then we drive again at the evening, over to my hubby's parents.

We had about 20cm snow last night, to add to the 5cm that fell during the day.  I'm hoping I can get the car out, yesterday i had trouble because it isn't my car and I don't know how it handles in snow and my 'bad weather kit' (blanket, water proof jacket, boots, food & drink, newspapers - spread them under the wheels to give traction) is in my car.

I am glad that I live where we don't get much snow.  Don't think I could drive in it.

Today's been kinda lonely as my husband left this morning to go get my Christmas present after waking me up so I could sign a check for him to be able to cash it. He won't tell me where he is going or when he'll be back. Just that he is going on a short trip.

It's after 4pm and I was hoping to spend time with him today as we'll both be busy tomorrow. He has to work and I am volunteering at church.

Off to check on my insulin site as my sugar level is high and not coming down very easily.

Well yesterday I couldn't get to work unrtil the afternoon because the snow had turned to ice.... When I got home last night after meeting my cousin for dinner I left the car on the road rather than the car park because the road is a bus route and gets treated. Last night we had another inch or so of snow, it was falling as I got home... hopefully I'll get to work today (half day).

No snow here, that's for sure!  Though a little warmer weather might be nice...

change of plans...
Christmas Eve = cooking a Norweigan dinner for a friend - Blomkal Med Reke, Lefse, some kind of salad (not including jello, unfortunately) and Krumkake for dessert
Christmas Night = Karaoke, starbucks and dinner in the big city after work
New Years = going to Osaka for a few days with day trips to Nara and Kyoto worked in
