What kind of music do you like?

I have pretty eclectic tastes.  I tend to gravitate toward Oldies, Classical/Baroque, and Celtic, but I also enjoy Swing, war time music (Think Andrew Sisters), and rock n roll.  I do occasionally find some punk, hard rock, and rap that I like.   I also enjoy Folk music. :)

Music doesn't play a significant part in my life.  :geek:

A country song made me burst into tears.

My dad and I were driving to work, because for a time we both worked the same job. On the way to work my dad put in a country song. Now, he always hated country music, so I was surprised, and sense I hated it so much, of course I groaned.

But then the music began. It was Kenny Chesney's "There Goes My Life." Daddy began to sing this song to me, this song that talked about the man who got his girlfriend pregnant and he thought that his life was over because of it, hence "There Goes My Life, there goes my future." Yet as the song continued it talked about how the man began to accept the fact that he was a father, and towards the end when girl is moves out to go to college he sings "There goes my life."

I started to cry because that was exactly what happened to my dad, and the song told our story.

There was a song my mother in law heard (not country) that talked about a woman who was driving with her baby in the car.  She somehow got run off the road or hit by a car and turned around to check on her baby.  The baby didn't even wake up (she was asleep) and she was perfectly safe.

This kind of hit me because when Kat was about 9 months old, I lost control of my car and ran off the road missing another car by about a foot.  Kat was asleep at the time - she didn't wake up at all.

Oh Amanda....  I'm glad you both were safe.  :)

Hmm....my music tastes range everywhere :D I like Celine Dion (I'm seeing her in concert next November!), Sarah Mclachlan, Sarah Fimm, Linkin Park, Staind, Incubus, Josh Groban, Imogen Heap, Nelly Furtado, Jimmy Eat World, Snow Patrol, Hinder, Dido, Amethystium, Sleepthief, Jody Quine, Daughtry, Seal, Loreena McKennitt, Enya, Evanescence, Coldplay, Moby, Shania Twain, Faith Hill, Nickelback, Amanda Marshall, Jann Arden, Disney movie Soundtracks, 30 Seconds to Mars, Sting, some Jon Secada...and, yes, even some of Cher.  *g*  I don't like rap much...maybe one or two songs.

[Edit]: I forgot, I'm really big into the 80s and the 90s too  :D

Oh Dana, you would have loved my radio show when I had it.  I started out playing music from Disney, then switched to music from animation and musicals!

For real?  :D  You're right, I would've loved it!  My friends and I, when we're driving down Pacific Coast Highway, tend to play Disney music and we all sing along with the windows rolled down  *g*  We even get the boys to sing along because they can't deny that they don't know the words too

Yeah, all those country songs about Daddy's and daughters are all tear jerkers!  They are designed to make women weep, I swear.  I don't even really like country.  Although I do like Dixie Chicks XD

I think I like everything pretty much.  Some of my favorites - Jars fo Clay, John Legend, Santana, Alanis Morrisett, Linkin Park, Evanescance, Amy Winehouse, Nickelback, Reliant K, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Foo Fighters, Matchbox 20, Morcheeba, Norah Jones, Enya....

I like soundtracks - Sleepless in Seattle, You've Got Mail, Schindler's List, Amistad, A Mighty Wind, Prairie Home Companion (the movie, though I also have some Christmas stuff), Sense and Sensibility, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, LotRs...

And then a bunch of Japanese stuff too.

Dana

I love soundtracks too.  :)  Another good one is The Last of the Mohicans.  And of course, I own all the LotR ones  :D

I love the sound track for Last of the Mohicans, but I also love The Matrix soundtrack as well, that and Monty Python's "Life of Brian" :D
