I have a few countdowns at the moment.

1. 1 week 'til my baby turns 3.

2. 2 weeks 'til my mum leaves for her UK/ Ireland/Europe/US tour.
2 & 1/2. 2 Weeks until Daughter #2 gets her learners permit. AAARRRGH!!

3. Sometime in the next 8 months hubby will get his double transplant. (Though there's no fixed date for that, so does it count?)

Feel free to explain this, Kate. :laughing5:

Well, my fiance doesn't want to wait. That's one reason.

Second, I have no insurance outside of the State of Michigan - we live in New Mexico. And there are a few medical "things" I need checked out very soon.

It was mostly his idea, but I don't mind. He simply doesn't want to wait. He gets to plan this and then June 7th or so we're going to Houston for a few weeks as a honeymoon - since we won't be able to after our Ceremony in November.

I know many people who have done it this way. One of my friends did this only a few days before the Ceremony, to cut down on the amount of things they'd have to worry about on their day. (Don't ask, I thought it was an odd reason too).

My friends Mike and Megan got married this way because he was due to leave for Iraq in 4 days and she found out she was pregnant. He was going to propose anyways, but it just rushed things along. They had a ceremony when he got back from Baghdad.

That's another reason for me. There is a huge possibility that Brad could be recalled. (He's in "Inactive Reserve" for the Marines. Served 9 months in Iraq already). He's already received a few letters and a phone call. And they all keep getting more urgent.

As for "who" is the ceremony really for? Seriously... Me. I know that we're going to go do this courthouse thing and I still won't "feel" married. You know? The ceremony in Nov. is what will finalize it for me. And, I want the dress and flowers and all... again... to finalize the fact that he is my husband in my mind.

:D I'm such a girl like that though.

Man, I was so unprepared for my SATs.  I don't even know why I took them since I ended up going to a Communtiy College for a year and a half anyway.  But I remember I showed up and everyone pulled out their pencils and calculators.  I pulled out my pencil and then turned to my friend sitting next to me and asked "We were supposed to bring calculators to this thing?"

Let's see.. I'm countinmg down for:

My birthday is coming up.  But I don't know what day it is today, so I don't know how long it is until then...  Less then two weeks, I know that.

July 6th I'll go to Tokyo for a 6-year memorial get together for my friend Naoko (ours friends meet every year on the anniversary of her death, but this year I'll actually get to go).  And then the next day my ex-roommate is getting married to the boy she used to stay up late at night telling me about.  He was the boy she kinda liked but knew he had never noticed her... Well, he finally got a clue ;)

July 25th my contract ends.  And either I'll be heading home soon after, or I get 20 new vacation days!  I'm hoping for the vacation days ;)

I've got a ton of countdowns to look forward to. Let's see:

Two days until tech week starts.

Ten days until opening night of the first play I've ever directed -- granted it is only one of a series of 10-minute plays that the directing class is putting on, but still... And there is a chance the playwright will be there.

Finals are June 1st to the 7th.

July 1st I officially become president of my college's drama club.

Mid-July -- probably the week of the 15th -- I am hoping to head down to Beckley, WV to see the plays one of my professors and his wife are working on there, and to network with certain of the actors from Western Kentucky University -- which is one of the colleges on my shortlist for the fall of 2008. Yes, I am getting a big head start on where I am going for my BA.

And that's my summer in a nutshell.
