Short or tall?

Ok, while writing a new persona sheet, I wanted a female who felt that she was "too tall" and conspicuous. I felt that I had to ask another opinion on what would be a proper height since I'm 5'2" and anything more than that seems tall enough. However, I know that there are others out there who are both taller and shorter than me, so. . .

1) What's your height?
2) Do you consider yourself to be short, tall, or medium?
3) If you could choose your height, what would it be?

I'm 5'7" and I consider myself to be fairly tall since I don't have a lot of female friends who are taller than me. (Most of them are more in the 5'2" range!)

However, when I lived in Minnesota I was friends with mostly guys, and they were all 6'2" and above, which always made me feel short! :p

I'm okay with my height, though sometimes I suppose I wouldn't mind being shorter and some days I wish I was taller! (I hate it when I can't reach something and have to ask my husband to!)

1) I'm 164cm / 5'4"
2) Medium - except when I'm in Singapore.
3) Just a little taller.  170 or so.

And I'll add another few discussion points.

How does your height affect the height of your personas?  Do you make them taller, because you want to be, or your height because you know what that's like?

My male personas are nearly always tall because my husband is!

I only use tall, medium, and short because I'm a metric girl and I don't believe Pern's Imperial! :laughing5:

I'm 5' 6"  :)  I wish I was just a little taller because I'm tired of having the bottoms of my jeans trail on the ground!  It's annoying because then they get frayed, and then I have to get them hemmed...  For my family, I'm the shortest.  Everyone else, including my cousins when they're older, are going to be taller.  Ah well :)  Most of the time I'm content with my height.

As for personas, I make them either my height, like Shayla, a bit taller, like Traelyn, or shorter, like Ailyn.  The two lone guys that I write are tall (6 foot or some such height) because...well...I find tall men to be very attractive.  :love5:

I'm 5'2" and consider myself short, though I am the tallest female in my family.  My mother-in-law is 5'10 and I consider her tall.

I've never minded my height, but have fun making characters totally different from myself.  I like making all sorts of diverse characters.  Not unlike Jane, I tend to write male characters taller (also like my husband) but I try to make myself branch out.

My husband is also over six feet, so I guess I could blame that on the tall state of most of my men. Though I still blame Minnesota, too! They grow those men awful tall up there... my hubby is SHORT compared to many of my high school friends!

Maybe I totally have no perspective. ;)

I'm the runt of my family at 5'3" (which is actually only 1/4" shorter than my father).

I have always thought of myself as taller than I am.  When I was in elementary school I was always one of the tallest kids in my class.  And then in 6th grade I stopped growing, which sucks cause everyone including me thought I would be around 5'7 or 5'8.  My basketball dreams were shattered ;)

But here in Japan I'm average height.  Most of my female friends are shorter than I am, or right about my height.  My students seem to be getting taller every year, but I'm still taller than a lot of them.  I teach one lady in private lessons who just reaches my collarbone!  I feel tall in Japan  :faroah:

As far as my personas, I try to mix it up.

As far as RL guys I have no preference either.  I like guys who are tall, but short guys are awefully cute too ;)

I'm the person who knows she's short and therefore doesn't use the top shelf of kitchen cupboards!

I'm 1.54m (5'2").  And would love to be just a little taller, not an awful lot, just enough that I can safely buy standard length trousers in the shops and not have to pay more to buy the petite range ones ;)

Its the complete opposite for me.  I have trouble making my persona women tall because I like shorter women.  :geek:  Its always hard for me to type the words "Shes a tall woman" because its not my taste.

But I'm 6'1" and I consider myself tall.  Most of my friends are shorter than me (obviously).  My only compliant is the fact that I hit my head on the door frames in my house (its an old house and people were short 200 years ago).

I'm 5'9 1/2 and I"m tall (I have to be because I have to buy the Tall jeans)

I wish I was 5'7, that would be a perfect hight for a girl :D

My hubby is 6'0 and I consider him perfect for a guy.

I'm 5'7" and would consider myself tall, but only just barely! Like most girls, I reached my full height at around the age of 13 or 14... back when I was that young it always felt weird to me that I was taller than most adult women! I am the second tallest woman in a family that is almost all girls (my aunt is 5'8").

For the most part, I like my height. Tall enough to not feel like a shrimp around tall guys, but not so tall that I feel like a giant around guys that are short. The only time I feel funny about my height is when I am surrounded by girls taht are in the 5'-5'2" range!

How do you know you're surrounded by them?  You'd be looking right over their heads! :laughing5:

I was one of those who stopped growing at age 12, so I went from tallest to shortest.

I tend to write shorter females, but what sparked this discussion was trying to alter that and write for someone taller.

As to men: for a long while I tended to date tall ones -- 6'2" to 6'6". I'm not sure why.

I'm short, 158 cm (5'3'' ?) and I wish I was taller so I would reach the topselves...
Hubby is medium, around 174 cm.
I have female co-worker who is very tall (over 180 cm) and she has troubles find pants that reaches to her ankles..

I write both tall and short characters, liking variety.

Luckily I have pretty long arms for someone my height, putting things up on the highest shelf was no problem.  Taking them down is a little trickier...  I usually put only plastic things up there that I can hook with a knife or wooden spoon and catch when it fell.  I'm a big fan of using the tools at hand XD
