Where would you go...?

I woke up this morning to big fat snowflakes outside my window. And then I laughed, because I'm going to California, suckers! Then my coworkers nearly murdered me. That'll teach me to keep my mouth shut.

I love oceans too, Bree - maybe it's because it's 'exotic' because I live in a prairie. But there's nothing I like to do better than to swim in the ocean, or warm lakes, or streams or somesuch. It makes me so, so happy.

I have a list too, and keep thinking that one day I'll buy a map of the world and start sticking pins or stickers onto the places that I've been to. And then I can stare at the map and dream of the places that I'd like to go... maybe that's why I like maps so much, too.

Yay California!

PS. Patrick? You make it sound like cycling across Canada wouldn't be that interesting! That's one of the trips I'd LOVE to do - I've travelled a lot internationally but I've never seen Montreal. It's sad, because it's supposed to be one of the most beautiful cities in North America.

My uncle bought the book  1000 Places to See Before You Die and has been checking them off. When my parents went to Tennessee to visit them a few weeks ago, they all had to visit Graceland so that he could cross off another.

My buddy and his wife are coming to visit me in a couple of weeks, and Graceland is high on their list (I've not been there yet).

I think my brother and father are going to Graceland on their way down for my graduation.

Though I live not that far away, I've never actually driven UP to Memphis. Just had layovers there on the way in and out of town. ;)

Where would you go if you could go travelling anywhere in the world?

I have only one place left on my original 'places to see' list - Lord Howe Island.  I don't know why, but I've always wanted to go there.

(The original list included Norway in winter and Yellowknife.  I crossed Yellowknife off after spending a couple of days in Hay River.  I'd seen the Great Slave Lake, paddled in it, even.  My work there was done.)

If I was starting a new list (which I am *not*) I would put the American South West on it.

Mostly I want to stay at home these days.

Yeah, as people said, Southern Lights.  I saw them once while we were living down south in Christchurch - but that's still a *long* way north for them to show.  Unforgettable.

Thing is, the toilets are different and in them you wouldn't see direction of flow.  You need a bath or sink for that.

Oooo. I love traveling. My biggest issue right now is that I have to pick somewhere to settle down long enough to get a decent job!

But if I had unlimited wealth and the time to indulge it, I'd be off! (and probably killing myself on ruins...)

The top of my list would have to be the States.  Some of my closest and best friends are people I have never met and would dearly love to.

Next on the list, go back to the UK one more time, just to see my nan.  She wouldn't know me, doesn't remember me, but I'd love to see her one last time.

Russia.  It has been on my wish list since I was a child. I don't know why?  It's just the one place in the world I have always wanted to travel to.  

Germany to see the history of the country.
Italy to see Pompeii.
Southern Ireland - amazing countryside.
Greece to see the ruins.
And New Zealand to see the snow and the volcanos .... mmmm .. Tommy Lee Jones (oops always associate volcanoes with him...LOL)

And I'm totally jealous of my mum, who is visiting England, Europe and the US late next month - until September.  And she won't pack me in her suitcase!!

I tend to fall in with those who wish to see many places so the list is long...

Italy and Greece - because friends and family have had such enviable reviews and there are so many things I would like to see there

Ireland - because of family history and fond feedback from family members

Australia - Just because I've always wanted to go and because I would really like to observe some of the different animals that are native - besides I like Australian wine...

India - because my father grew up and went to school there and I've seen slides of so very many things

Norway - because of family history, both mine and my husband's

South America - because a dear friend from college lived there for a time and sparked my interest in many places

Mexico (again) - to see the ruins and because I love the climate (and scuba)

Kenya - have some friends that have been going to start a clinic/hospital there and would love to be involved, would love to see Africa, would really like to see the different wildlife...

Countless places here in the US....there's just so much I have not yet seen...

Almost everyone has Ireland on their list... I did study abroad there, and I have to say it is absolutely amazing! Such a beautiful country, with so many nice people! If you ever go, you abosolutely have to visit the Cliffs of Moher. Yes, it is a very popular tourist spot, but it is truely amazing and definately more beautiful than words can describe!

My husband wants terribly to go to Ireland, too! :D Not that I would be AGAINST it, because it is one of the places in Europe that I wanted to see but never got around to... but I am so homesick for Austria!!
