Questions on Weights and Measures

How are weights and measures done on Pern?  I know they used kilo's and kilometres etc, in the new settler books, but I can't remember what is used in the other books?

And how would they measure? Would it be like the old sets of scales, where they plonked a weight on one side and waited for the balance to occur? And if so, what about in human or animal weights?

Silly question but I want to gett he canon right in my post, and have no clue with this area...?

There's info in the DLG that covers length - apologies, these are all in imperial,so my conversions are approximate

Fingertip -  1/2 inch (1.25cm) wide
Hand - 4 inches (10cm)
hand-span - 8-9 inches (20-22.5cm)
man-height - from 5'2" (154cm) to 6'2" (180cm)
Dragonlength - 40 ft(12metres)
weaver's length - from nose tip to extended arm finger tip 1 yard (0.9m)

Thanks Emma, the lengths are good, are they already on the Website? IF not, can we have them placed on the FAQ's pages?

I'm still wondering about the weights, so if anyone has any ideas?

Had a feeling they'd be there somewhere, but I still need the weights.. ?

I'm still thinking balance scales of some type, though I'm not sure about human weight.  I guess its a case of: they look fat - they are fat; they look skinny - they are skinny.

But what I was really after was a way of measuring weight loss...

Sorry, I was just running through with a link! Don't think we have an article on weights... but the best way to check is to go to the FAQ page and search for 'weight'. To get that Measurements FAQ I went to the FAQ page and searched for 'length'
