What is matza

Passover happens to be this week ;)  *tosses Matza boxes about*

Ok, the dumb little aussie over here will ask... whats Matza?

I know its Jewish food, but what exactly?

Matza - also known in our house as 'cardboard' is traditionally eaten during the 8 days of passover in place of bread.  It comes from the fact that when Pharoah allowed the Israelites to leave Egypt, they had to go then - so any bread made did not have time to rise.

The prohibition extends to anything that yeast has to be added to, so no beer, cider etc.

Though I don't like my buscuits with gravey... I do like to make a sandwich out of a buscuit and a slice of ham or sausage. And buscuits are only sweet when drenched in maple syrup or smeared with jelly. *G*

I don't like the white gravy most people put on buscuits at all. I don't like white gravy period. Not even on chicken fried steak. I like ketchup on chicken fried steak! lol

Some people call chicken fried steak, country fried steak. I think it depends on where you live as to which one you call it.

Hmm. . . I think that I have frozen biscuits. Perhaps I should make some for a fried egg sandwich.
I also have cookies -- half a box of thin mints. I can eat those for dessert.
