Horribly off topic, but why should I suffer alone.

I was in the local Barnes & Noble this afternoon when I saw something that was so very very worng.

'twas a cross over novel, that is characters from two separate series in one book.

So, what was this pice of literary horror?

I forgot the title (the brain struggles to protect itself ya know) but the basics are thus:  The crew of the Enterprise-D join forces with The X-Men.

It's called Planet X and it's by renowned Trek author Michael Jan Friedman, who did several X-Men comics along with the OTHER renowned Trek author Peter David. It's a followup to an actual X-Men/Star Trek comic miniseries. Also, nitpick- it's the crew of the Enterprise-E. Not D. It's a post First Contact novel. *cough*

I have to admit, I'd never paid attention to X-Men until I read this novel. Then I found the comic series, and then I moved to the X-Men comics. ^^

But I'm biased to like this book, as I'm a fan of Star Trek books in general and of Friedman in particular. It's actually a pretty good novel if you read it, and the interactions are hilarious.

No worries, I have picked my share of nits in my time.  I had not read the book back too closely, just enough to confirmed the broad scope that I had noticed.

Man, that book has been around forever! It was always one that we weren't entirely sure where to shelf... with the normal sci-fi books, or in the Sci-Fi series section with the other Star Trek books. :D

I have a feeling Hermione would have TONS of flits.  They would flock to her like moths to a light.  Don't know exactly why though.

Pansy Parkinson might ride gold.  But only because she's so conniving (I think of Kylara when I read about Pansy for some reason.)

I wouldn't be surprised if Neville got brown or bronze, because it'd fit him.  Its the classic Impression story.  Worried you'll get blue or green, then end up with bronze!

And Luna would DEFINITELY ride green.  It just fits.

Now I'm going to be thinking of these for weeks.
