Marks and Rewards

I've earned hundreds of marks these last few days since there was a population explosion in the membership and the chatter on the forums increased.  And I know I had another topic about what people planned to buy with their marks (still interested in that!) but what I want to know this time is how focused are people on gaining marks?

Do you create characters or post in locations that will earn them faster?  Do you make bonus location characters or fill certain ranks which are attracting extra marks?  Do you hunt down the newbies to copost with for the extra 4 marks each post gets?  Does anybody hang around the forums just waiting to reply and make an easy couple of marks?  (Let's not ask about people who start topics!)

Or are you the sort of person who has no interest in them and never looks at what they can purchase?

~ ~ ~

I must say I love marks!  I obsessively check them a couple of times a day to see if my total has grown.  Then I figure out how many I need to get to my next intended purchase.

That next purchase is (I hope) Forever Reqs Free L4 at a Hold/Hall.  I think they're the best value for marks, those options.  Not only requriements free but rank limits do not apply!  Two bonuses for the price of one.

I do adore getting extra marks for things, but don't base decisions on them.  (Timing might be affected.)  Asking for the headwoman for DCW was about wanting a headwoman, not about marks ... but hey, finding 20 extra marks on my profile was fun, too.  I didn't want to be a welcomer to earn marks, I wanted to be a welcomer and enjoy the heck out of the marks that come with the job.

~ ~ ~

Is there anybody out there who has little or no interest in marks and rewards?  I want to hear from you as well as the people as interested as I am in the things.

I don't really have an interest in marks or rewards. I look at mine, but I don't really care. There's nothing that super interests me, so I just collect marks and don't really care. I can think of a few things I MIGHT want in the future, but it's so far off I don't bother collecting marks to save for it.

I've already poured over the 'shopping list' and picked out all the rewards I really, really want! lol

WOW!

I never paid that much attention to marks.  I post and chat for the joy of it.  I've used some to get my @triadweyrs.org, and will spend some again soon to regain my title of Curmudgeon.

I'd like to think I've raised grumpiness to an art form, just ask Heather.

Other than that I write what I want because I feel the need to say something, and if the personae I have can't say it, I will create the persona that can say it.

I add a bunch to the forum for the sheer joy of chatting, having fun, or busting chops.  Gee, maybe I am not so much the nice guy.

I'm not a big mark horder -I've picked out a few things that I might be interested in if I reach them, but I'm not busting my butt to reach them. Mostly I just post if I feel like posting or if I feel I should answer someone. Other stuff I do is because I want to do it, and it is merely a pleasant surprise when I get marks for them.

I finally looked over the list and there's nothing that I really want. True, I had considered creating a new e-mail address for receiving club mail (receiving only, since I'm only lurking), so I guess a triadweyrs address wouldn't be a bad thing. But other than that . . . nothing really of interest.

Come on, Vix,  doesn't this look even a little bit interesting?

And then you stopped typing ... right when we were getting to the bit where you told us which were the ones that really, really interested you.

We're all friends here, you can share!

I have to admit, sometimes I get into a mark stock-pile mood.  Not too much, because I really don't need any more, but its an off-shoot of real life.  I am great at making an extra buck.  I teach extra classes, sometimes four nights a week, just to make some extra money.  But just as I am good at earning it, I am even MORE talented at spending it.

Case in point:  Last night I taught a private lesson for 1 hour for $30.  But then, five minutes after it was over, I picked up the phone, ordered pizza, and with prices being what they are I ended up spending $20 for it.  Make 30, spend 20.  Just like that.  How easily it slips through my fingers.

I only WISH my real bank account looked like my marks account.  I am very good at NOT spending those...  (so far, just once for an extra L2 persona, reqs still required)

Well of course, there are a great many that sound nifty, and there may come a time when I want to go for one of the others, but here's the ones that REALLY caught my eye:

350 - Gold flit egg to keep or give away.

700 - One complete flit clutch to give away.
Between 7-11 eggs including 1 gold.

1000 - New Hears All Dragons Persona

2000 - Create a New PC Craft Hall & Hallmaster at an existing Hold.
          Canon approval necessary

4000 - Create a New PC Hold & Lord Holder.
          Canon approval necessary.

5000 - Jr. Goldrider Exempt from the 1 Goldrider Rule.

Bree

I spend mine really, really fast.

I'm a spender. :p
