DFW: Firelizard Clutch!

Hey everyone!

Got a character who's been wanting a firelizard egg - or one who just wants to haggle and maybe swear at a scheming former Holdless? Now's your chance!

Aegaryn has been separated from his boyfriend K'valas for a few months, and he's making good use of his mopey alone time: watching, listening, and learning more about the Dragonsfall Weyrfolk. He's quietly taking stock of who might be useful to him now or later, what people bring to the table, and where the seeds of unlikely 'friendships' - or long-term resentments - might be planted.

His gold, Zolta, rose in Month 13 of Turn 12, and her clutch will be hardened and ready for distribution around Day 16–20 of Month 1, Turn 13. This falls roughly two weeks before Chioneth and Karcalanth's Hatching takes place, so it may not be the best fit for characters who'll be involved in that class.

The Pitch

I'd like to run a short series of posts around the egg distribution - something with a bit of opportunistic flavor that lets character dynamics play out naturally. Plus, baby firelizards! 🌟

It would run over 3-4 days, set in the lower caverns, and is open to characters of all types. The catch: Aegaryn isn't exactly selling the eggs so much as he's spinning himself a web of information and obligations.

Depending on the character (or their writer's preference), a simple exchange of marks is perfectly fine - but the real fun is in trading favors, loyalties, or juicy intel. Each interaction would play out as an in-character negotiation. Holdless folk, and all that.

Aegaryn is quietly evaluating what people are willing to sell - of themselves, and of others. He may even offer an egg to someone with nothing obvious to give. It's all part of the game. (Bonus points if it also irritates someone higher up when he turns down their marks.)

If you'd like to offer information rather than immediate payment, some possible items of interest for trade:
- Illicit relationships
- Wing tensions, past or present
- Rank resentments
- Who's planning to transfer
- Who disagrees with or resents current leadership
- Access to storerooms or schedules
- Any other bits of juicy gossip or intel
- Promises of loyalty
- Favors to be called in later (especially useful from Wingriders -- carrying messages, providing cover, looking the other way at odd hours)
- Priority treatment in certain parts of the Weyr: the kitchen line, the infirmary, the tannery, etc.
- Something from their past - or someone else's
- Who's aligned with whom, or who's quietly at odds
- Anything else that might offer leverage - go wild!

Not interested in a firelizard?

If you'd rather skip the egg but still want to be involved - or if you'd like the chance to have your character give a former Holdless an earful - you're absolutely welcome. Tell him exactly what you think of him. Dress him down. Use expletives. All are welcome! 😄

Particulars

Zolta's a big gold, so she could lay a sizeable clutch depending on writer interest - probably around 10 eggs, give or take (One possible breakdown: 1 gold, 2 bronze, 2 brown, 2 blue, 3 green). Once Zolta's flight is complete and writer interest is confirmed, I'll email our L1 Heather with the color distributions - so please make sure to let me know what you're thinking!

A few notes:
- Membership marks are not required for an egg.
- The gold egg option is still on the table, but this would need to be purchased with member marks and falls under the max. 2 gold firelizard per writer rule.

I'd love to get this up and running before too many threads with the new Weyrling class get underway. Please reply here, email me (iluva484@gmail.com), or shoot me a message on discord with your color preference - or just let me know if your character wants to be involved in some other way. 😉

I'll be putting together a few scene starters and sending them out within the next week or so.

Thanks!
