Jane

While walking away seems like a good idea, the cat is in my arms when the biting takes place.  I would walk away and he'd be coming along for the ride! :lachtot:

You'd have to put him down first, Jane. :-p

Jane

Again, good idea in principle, but I'm picking him up to bring him inside.  Putting him down is exactly the message he's trying to deliver.

Actually, he doesn't bite hard, just uses his teeth to communicate his dissatisfaction with my behaviour.

Amanda N

Flick him on the nose. :-D

Eimi

Actually, in that case the best thing to do is grab him by the scruff of the neck and carry him in that way.  It won't hurt him, and instinct will tell him to strike the "carried kitten" pose.

It's also a good way to give them a bath, so they don't fight. My calico, Niki, purrrs when I carry her like that... even when she knows it means she's going to get a bath.
